Good morning, despite the ominous date, regardless of the clouds of bats and locusts, the shrieking ghouls, etc.
I have an appointment to get my car serviced at 7:00 AM.
Behave yourselves.

Friday the 13th! Be careful not to eat a black cat today! It’s really bad luck, though mostly for the cat.

Good morning.
61F-83F sunny.
Doc appointment this morning and then shop time. Working on that LG-2 and got the bridge plate out almost intact. Certainly enough to use as a template for the new one with corrections for proper placement and coverage.
Friday the 13th, ignore it, there is nothing you can do about it anyway.

My daughter's 36th birthday today.
2 flights have taken us to mountainous Mbeya. We are collecting provisions before heading out into the bush to Matebete village to stay for a week. Likely no signal.

Wordle in six, connections fail. An auspicious start to the day. :/
I’ve had some sort of heart monitor attached to my chest for the last two weeks, (they are checking fir a arithmia) and I get to take it off today, which is good because it’s a little. Irritating and I have to be careful in the shower with it. So a long hot shower is on todays agenda. Mayby TMI, but a luxury none the less.
Pinochle with Anita’s parents this afternoon then out to a new to us mex place for dinner.

Dry and dusty but otherwise pleasant.
Returned from the Farmers Market and preparing for a bike ride - taking my vintage road bike to a smooth section of the White Pine Trail. Granddaughters here later.

I used to love giving tests on Friday the 13th so kids could tell me, if they failed, that it was the bad luck of the day. I just smiled.

Good morning. Been a fairly eventful day so far. My diverticulitis has been acting up, so I contacted my doctor, and he's sent in a prescription for some antibiotics and a referral for a CT scan and an office appointment for next week. I also fended off a fishing attack on my credit. That done I'll pick up the paperwork and prescription later today as I move through the daily routine.
Have a great day.

About 150 vintage wooden boats from all over the world are in the Brainerd lakes area up north this week for an annual gathering. This mahog baby is a 1928 Ditchburn Viking.

My oldest granddaughter was born May 13, 1994, in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England. It was a Friday, so I like it fine when Friday falls on the 13th.

I would sure love to be there. In the mid to late 1950s, our family used to vacation on Big Sand Lake near Park Rapids. The cabin where we stayed was owned by a family on my paper route and they invited us to use it. Docked at the cabin, and available for us to use, was a wonderful Gar Wood runabout that looked very much like the one below. I still have many happy memories of that boat.

Just back from Cedar Rapids with my new 2024 Prius. Now to figure out how it all works.
Just got a txt from the car, telling me the doors are unlocked. It's quieter than the 2018 and has more power, and is supposed to get better milage, 57 mpg combined City and highway.

Ken, I hope you can get the health stuff sorted out. It's no fun.
"Dry and Dusty" is one of the old-timey fiddle tunes I used to play in my weekly jam with the fiddle players at the magazine, in the 1990s through the early aughts.

We have reserved a new Prius for a little drive out to the East End of Long Island this weekend. I have never driven one before now, and am curious.

I'm pretty sure the new vehicle will be a Land Cruiser. I just need to get my order in right after Midnight CST on Monday morning. I missed the order in August.

I'd been wondering about this. The rally took place on the edge of our neighborhood (and the parking sprawled well beyond it), and the road work was indeed suspended and closed streets opened to accommodate the motorcade (which passed a block from our house). Big crowds showed up early, but we did see people leaving before Trump had finished speaking. Just sayin'. www.startribune.com/donald-trump-rally-st-cloud-cost/601143281
