Bill, you are sophisticated, in a blue-grassy way. My favorite Tony Rice recordings are those of the gypsy/jazzy bent, so-called "dawg" music. I've long fantasized that if there were one genre of acoustic guitar playing that I could achieve to competence, it would be that style -- so inventive, so melodic, so dynamic in chord and rhythm structures. So the Tony Rice Unit and the David Grisman Quintet will always be on my "desert island" list of recordings. I find bluegrass pleasant but lacking in cool chord changes, etc. -- I think its history has defined a narrow range of qualities that purists feel as though they must adhere to. Many years ago, I used to drop into a weekly bluegrass gathering at a pavilion near me, and I'll never forget the evil glances I was shot while playing along capoless in A Major while everyone else was playing in G while capoed at fret 2. I thought the different voicing added interest -- they thought it added criminality.

It's Earth Day, so find yourself a tree and give it a long, warm hug, won't you?
Also the first day of Trump's criminal trial. No hugging expected there.

If in Minneapolis, get thee to Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown for a stack of blueberry pancakes, w/ or w/o walnuts, and topped with local maple syrup. Podium was a couple doors down -- wonder how many of these Marty has consumed.

Fortunately I was able to pop things back and drawing on my lutherie skills replaced the missing plastic rivets with tapered dowels hammered into place and colored black with a magic marker. It actually looks pretty good and seems stable. Fingers crossed. I trust you used a top-shelf Japanese tonewood for the dowels.

Where does the water come from? There is supposedly water at the poles but that would not be anywhere near enough to create an Earth like eco system. Duh, pipeline from Lake Superior.

This water tower in Rochester, Minn., was built for the Seneca food processing plant, which has since closed, but the city gave the tower historic preservation status to keep it saved.

I just rang up the St. Paul Cheese Shop (on Grand) and they have some in stock.

Marty, where did you find the Halloumi? I haven't searched for it, but I've been keeping an eye out and haven't come across it. Trader Joe's carries it, but it's seasonal and they won't have it until mid-May, I am told.

Backroads beckon! Maybe I'll run up to Lindstrom and grab a bratwurst. Washed down with coffee, of course.

Actually, he did. More than once. Well, I just looked at three weeks' worth of his posts and didn't see it. Mind telling me what it is?

Opening was a hit! We must had an easy 400 in the auditorium and they all standing at the end (and encouraged by some timely "whoops" from the sound and light booth, were very responsive the entire show). It was a good show! (and I didn't miss a cue...by much) (hey, I was running 16 mics plus lights, by much is good!) I don't believe you ever mentioned what show you're doing? I'm back from Revival, brought home more food than I ate there, OMG. The Tennessee Hot chicken was super tasty and right at my limit of heat, brought a tear or two to my eye. They have a hotter level called Poultrygeist that must be punishing. No collards or fried green tomatoes on the brunch menu, so I went with mustard slaw, which was excellent and would feed four, I swear.

I'm also gonna do some birding today, but in the form of Tennessee hot chicken at Revival in St. Paul. Perhaps with biscuits, collards and fried green tomaters.

Don’t be grumpy. Be “Happy” Just my honest reaction, is all. I think that song is totally unremarkable, but she's really cute. What do you like about it?

Hmm, Rockerbob? Interesting! We were just listening to a fellow named Rockerbob here last week. Fancy that, two Rockerbobs in one week! Listen this Rockerbob, he's real good! I might not be the only Rockerbob, but I am the only rockerbob.com My song "George" is, in my opinion, the best thing I ever wrote/recorded. Wow, this is amazingly wonderful! World-class!
