NASHVILLE — Sav Buist of The Accidentals likes to say that “songwriting is cheaper than therapy.”
So it’s particularly satisfying when she’s written a heartfelt song that really strikes a chord with listeners — and especially those seeking comfort.
And it’s beyond gratifying when that song, “The Line,” goes on to win the grand prize in the prestigious USA Songwriting Competition.
“It’s completely mind-blowing. I still haven’t really absorbed that that happened,” Buist said of her recent win in the 27th annual songwriting competition, not only snagging top honors in the folk category but taking home the overall grand prize worth $50,000 in cash, merchandise and services.
So there's always that.

Nope, I don't watch FOX or read Newsweek. Just plain ol' NBC nightly news explaining how, even though the NBC journalist/investigators could easily show you the footage of the Hamas training sites -- fake villages built for the express purpose of practicing for the invasion, and Hamas terrorists practicing parasailing for the invasion -- somehow Israel's intelligence didn't see it coming. The reasonable conclusion is that Israeli intelligence was to blame for not stopping the invasion. Well, if they'd only watch NBC News they woulda known.

I had a 1952 L7-C for about 8 years. Lovely looking instrument. Played nicely. Sounded real plinky-plinky. Not well suited to my style (or lack there-of) of playing.

For worm hole problems I recommend Ivermectin. It'll take care of COVID too.
(Or was that bleach?)

In Aaron Short's review video above he shows that with heavy strumming the thing quacks out like a normal UST piezo. That would not work for me.

The clown-vomit buttons were the doing of a previous-to-Bill owner, and while they would not have been my choice, I kinda came to like them. Until one deconstructed itself at IJam, rendering the guitar unusable for that weekend. (I suppose now my traveling maintenance kit will include a set of spare buttons.) I was hoping that the Allparts ebony buttons would work--they weren't all that cheaper than genuine Schallers, but the Stew-Mac packing-and-postage charge of $12+ kinda got up my nose. Marshall can correct me on this, but my recollection is that when I bought the Goodall RS from buddy Jeff McManus, it had the standard tuner knobs. Then Marshall bought a similar guitar and added Leach knobs to the tuners that I kinda liked, so I ordered and added a set to my RS. Yeah. I'm the one responsible. I bought some Harvey Leach abalone tuner knobs for my 1996 Goodall. I coerced Bill into doing the same. I may still have the tuner knobs in a drawer somewhere. If I can find them, they're yours.

Almost 20 years ago I went to one of the 4 Amigos Vintage Guitar Shows, and saw a 1930s Super 400 on a stand. It had a picture next to it of some deceased jazz guitarist that had owned it. I picked it up and played it a little. Surprisingly mellow guitar for such a big body arch top. It was lovely. They wanted $15k for it back then.

Neva hoid of vit.
Looks interesting. A UST with 2 cables comping out of it. That's a little confusing. Nice looking preamp circuit board. I suspect they are saying the preamp will tame the UST sound and provide the ability to EQ or shape the sound.
Kinda pricy.
The proof is in the pudding. I'd have to hear it live through a sound system to comment further. Maybe it's great. Maybe it's hype.

I agree the lyrics are clever, but not as easy to follow.
Yeah I like the stop action video too. Simple but time consuming.
It is her voice and the simple but good guitar part I like. I think she’s one of the “teachers” for one of the Lamb’s Retreat Songwriting sessions up in Michigan next month. I went one year when Pierce Pettis was there. It’s fun but costs $650 and you write a song on a topic given to you.
All my songs are cheaper than that.

Good morning, Soundhooligans. Wish you were here. What strings do you think David Gilmour uses on that Taylor guitar? 😄 Plinky ones.

My friends on facebook are conflicted as to whose side they are on. Some from the extreme left are still posting photos of Gilda Muir with quotes about the unlikelihood of negotiating peace with those whose mission it is to kill you, while others from the same extreme left are standing, like BLM, in solidarity with Palestine and the terrorists. You need better friends.

I found it very interesting when Detroit traded Stafford for Goff. I always thought Stafford was wasting away in Detroit. Nice for him, in a way, that he got a shot at the Brass Ring with LA.
Conversely, it seemed like Goff was being dissed by the universe. But now, look who's playing like a champ.

"Crash" was the first successful movie I remember seeing that did it well. The characters all seemed to be good or evil at the beginning. But there was some "flip" moment for each character where they each revealed a different side of themselves; heroic, self centered, compromised. Until in the end you liked and disliked something about every character.
