Yeahbut, wood has environmental problems.
I liked that Composite Acoustics made CF guitars with braces. I think bracing contributes to the vibrational response of guitars. I note that my RainSong (with no braces) has a lot more sustain that any wood guitar I've played. Some people would like that. For me it's a slight negative. The guitar is too even for my playing style. Not enough punctuation.
My present thinking is I might keep the RS, for inclement conditions. That's the reason I got it. But little things about it irk me. But it's playable. And I can put any pickup in it I like.
There's a Joytar video cartoon that shows it being molded and the vid gives the impression that there are braces cast into the top. When it came there were no such braces. Just a flat top. I sent it back.

Emerald Guitars in Ireland is still going strong. CF just never got the recognition. People want dead trees. Me, I don’t care as long as it sounds and plays well. And if I ever did start gigging again, it would be CF, just for the ability to survive the abuse. Over on Acoustic Guitar Forum, the Carbon Fiber forum is taken over by Emeraldies. Personally I dislike off-center sound ports. I know all the blahbitty blah about surface area for vibration. But centuries of guitar building have proven what a guitar should sound like. And center holes do quite fine. That's why I have the RainSong. It looks very much like a guitar. But it has issues for me too. I've tried an Emerald (a friend has an X20). To be honest, it's the neck profiles on all the CF guitars I've played to date that give me the most comfort problems. And there's no fix for that. Most mfrs make one (or two) neck profiles and that's what you get. I toyed with getting a Klos, because their neck is a bolt-on. And I could go to a luthier and have a wooden bolt-on neck made for it to my specs. But when it came, I didn't like the sound enough to invest in the big change, so I returned it.

Good morning. 38F-54F sunny Tis DaWife's Birthday and we took her out for a crab and lobster dinner last night. New water heater is great but were not done yet as it's time to replace our VERY old washer and dryer. So since DaWife has the week off we will be out shopping. Features have changed a lot since we got the old ones, about 17 years. Some come with a built-in ringer now

Coincidentally, Dar and I just watched "All The Light We Cannot See", followed by "The Woman In Gold" (probably suggested by Netflix because we watched the other). I came away with a nagging feeling that something is possibly wrong in the depictions. Nearly every historical movie or novel that I've watched or read depicts the bad guy as too obviously bad. If you think about it, that really doesn't work in real life, does it? We know from history that millions of people -- even majorities of populations -- will follow really bad ideas. But I doubt those populations -- those majorities -- followed the ideas because they believed in evil and wanted it. They believed what they wanted was good. What they were led to believe was that that evil was good. WWII stories are sure like that. Most the Germans are mini-Hitlers in stories. I read "All the Light." I suppose it's true that war time brings out the worst in some people who relish in their rolls of brutality, and therefore are successful on the battlefield, and move up the ranks. But it's a common and easy literary theme to tell a story that way. Pure evil vs pure good. Modern day German people must be really tired of these stories.

The Donner is headless, so it'll be shorter for carrying. The Yamaha has better electronics (so reported). Probably a better neck. But it was harder to put together than the video on the Donner.

Lonnie used one of these when he went to Japan. I bought one of those Yammys a few years ago. But the frame bothered me where it gets wide up at the upper bout. Irked me. I thought of cutting it back to match the width of the rest of the frame. But then it would be worthless, and I probably wouldn't like it anyway. I bought it from Sweetwater, so I just sent it back.

Ha ha. I don't think a SBT or a soundhole mag would work.
I think you should buy one and let me know what you think.
Most of the videos I watched on it sounded quackie. One guy had it sounding great.
One reviewer was grousing about the neck relief.

The house is set up and ready to go. Are you sure you want the speaker behind the performer and mic? No. But when Sarah gets here we’ll adjust everything.

I just found out that RainSong guitars is closing their doors.
That, plus apparently the Blackbird Guitar shop had a large fire and everything is destroyed.

Interesting. I like the burst. I also like the 24.72 scale length. The asymmetrical neck profile is interesting. Don't know how that will feel. I hate piezo pickups. But there are some modeling pedal options out there that can greatly help that.
Could be very cool.
