Sue got an update on the Rivian from the neighbor. His wife said hubby got a new job ( we knew that), and as part of his compensation package he gets a car. He asked for the money instead because he had cars already. His new job requires lots of travel. The company said, “No.” they also said the car needed to be “Energy Efficient.” And he always wanted a pickup. So it’s a $79,000 free truck.
They’ll sell one of their other cars.

Marshall probably thought this thread was about L.R. Baggs or Fishman or something like that. Ha ha. Touché.

Ha ha.
I used to be interested in all sorts of different guitar variations. In my advanced age , I’ve circled the wagons and stick to a narrow range of 6 string acoustics with an acceptable neck.
Historic pickup history is interesting. It’s a fun subject to learn about. But I’m only spending any money on modern acoustic methods.

Eliminating Hamas is almost impossible. There are new Israel hating future terrorists created every day of the attack on Hamas.
I’m not saying that Israel should not pursue Hamas. Hamas is evil. But it is an impossible task to wipe it out.
I’m reading “Say Nothing” about the “Troubles” in the 60s & 70s in Northern Ireland. It is so incomprehensible what people do to each other in the name of religious differences. And there, both sides are “Christian.”

She picked me up on a bar. I remember we were comparing who had the biggest mouth and the longest arms.
She was drinking White Russians.

I guess to some extent, this is “youth” rebelling against the status quo in the world; the world that accepts the killing of innocents in the name of justifiable retaliation; a world they don’t want to sit by peaceably and accept.
It’s kind of a coming of age for some. In that regard it is similar to the anti-war Viet Nam era.

I’ll have to give him a call. I talked to him about Jan or Feb, and he was going to get married around now.

My neighbor just got a Rivian. The truck version Looks cool. All electric, so I read about. Only problem is there isn't enough room in their garage. You see, it's a 3 car garage and there's already a Jeep, a Volvo SUV, and a Porsche in there, along with 2 motorcycles; a Harley Fat Boy and a new fancy BMW. It boggles my mind. They are a very nice couple in their 40s with 2 jr high aged kids and 2 dogs. They're from Denmark. Literally. He does something in the pharmaceutical business. I'm thinking he reps for some overseas manufacturers. There's a Tesla a couple doors down. A handful of Lexuses and Beamers down the block. I'm still driving my 10 YO Civic. It boggles my mind what people spend these days. I don't know how they do it. I think the world has passed me by.

An interesting take, because it's aimed at 30-year-old me. 25 years after publication, does it still apply to my generation, the two after it, or all three? More than that, it was prescient. The church, of course, stayed its course (the one she described) and things went from bad to worse (in terms of church attendance). There's a new book out "The Great Dechurching" that is saying that the past decade or so has been the largest demographic/religious shift in our history with millions leaving church, churches closing their doors forever, and the smallest minority in our history still attending church. We are most definitely living in a post-Christian world. And the majority not only don't miss it, they say "good riddance". Our church is just starting a Capitol Campaign to raise money for a new roof and cosmetic improvements that will make it more desirable to young families. I’m thinking it’s an exercise in futility. And a darn expensive gamble. I’m more of an ilk to contribute to Drs Without Borders, or World Central Kitchen. These are people that are doing good for people in need in the world. I really don’t see how “church” speaks to many young people. We lost a generation. Most (80%+) of kids of mine and most friends my age in the church don’t attend any church. That used to be the breeding ground for churches; young families. We’ve made some inroads to the Millenials with infant children. But that’s mostly preschool kids in mother’s-day-out programs. Once the kids are in schools and activities, they drop away.
