I often cut strings before they are wound on the post & that would probably make them unravel. Yes, it would. I’ve never tried cutting strings prior to winding them on the post. I’ve seen warnings on round-core string packages not to cut them until they are installed and tuned to pitch and I thought that made sense but you’re the first person I’ve met who did that.

This may be one of the few sets I haven’t tried. Maybe I’ll give them a shot.
I’m curious about your “round wound” comment. I would have guessed that you always used round wound strings as opposed to flat wound or half round.
Do you mean they are wound on round core wire rather the hexagonal wire? If so, what is your objection to round core?

All, Last year I had invited Robert Brost of West Amana up to do the sound in my stead for Saturday Night. Anyone opposed to me asking him again? Sounds great. When Robert does sound for us at ITAC and other events, we always give him some money. We appreciate what he does and we know that he sometimes does it without compensation. We’ve been suggesting that other bands to do that too. Robert is a selfless, generous man, as you know, but he spends a lot of money on equipment and a lot of time in setup and tweaking. Robert isn’t a musician, as far as I know, and has no reason to do this outside of generosity and his own enjoyment. I’m thinking we ought to compensate him in some way.

Fiddlerina is set to play with Banjoy this evening near Amana. They say it’s rain or shine. Looks like it’ll be rain.

All the cool people are going gray. Some people's hair turns gray, some people's just turns loose. My father had a theory that as men age, the roots of their hair grow deeper and deeper. When the roots get deep enough, the hair takes on the characteristics of the material around the roots. So, if the roots encounter gray matter, the hair turns gray. . . . . . On edit: Give it some thought.

Elotes were the gentle people the Morlocks in The Time Machine were alway trying to kill and eat. Yes. (Eloi)
Now you’ve done it! Yvette Mimieux was the second Hollywood actress I had a crush on. The first was Hedy Lamarr after seeing Samson and Delilah, probably with my parents.

Many places will do Elotes in a cup. All the goodness with less work. I’ve had corn in a cup and boy it went down mighty smooth.

Certain payees accept EFT and the payment arrives electronically overnight. Certain others (our building co-op management company, for example) don't, and the bank sends an official bank-issued paper check that takes 5 business days. Yeah, mine works that way too. I find, when sending to a not EFT payee, there's usually no hurry.

Mailed a premium check for Workers Comp insurance. It was larger than normal (12961.28) 2 months payment. I start getting calls from my agent saying WC is about to cancel. What? I pull up animate of the check. Now it's made to Katrell Roger's. One of you guys??? So I'm at the bank now. Thing is I took the envelope to anew high security mail box instead of my normal place. Destination was PO box in Dallas. So the check thief is in postal service here in BR. What a pain! Evan, I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago here in New York, with two checks. What the thieves were doing was tying string around a sticky jar, dropping it in the mailboxes, and fishing around for envelopes. The checks of mine they stole were not only washed but altered so they didn't look exactly like my bank's checks. Someone signed my name in really bad handwriting—and if you have ever seen my penmanship, it's no wonder the bank alerted me to possible fraud. Now, the USPS here has altered the mailboxes so there is only a thin slot through which you drop letters. Anything larger has to go to the local PO to be mailed.
I did some research, and have been paying most of my bills via my online banking feature. The rare times these days I have to mail a personal check, I have been filling them out with pens that use gel ink, which I have read is much more difficult to wash because it penetrates the paper stock. I HATE when stuff like this happens.
Banks may differ in their services, but mine, a local Iowa bank, lets me set up electronic bill-pay for any payee. If the payee doesn't support EFT, say an individual or small business, my bank sends them a check. My bank doesn't charge for this service.

Wow! Very sorry to hear.
Don’t they accept payment via EFT? I don’t send checks to anyone. I either pay directly on their Web site or I send an electronic check from my bank. Secure, reliable, and fast.
On edit: I don’t even send personal checks to our church and I don’t let them make automatic withdrawals. I do an automated recurring EFT so their office doesn’t have any access to my account.

Bachelor's Log Day 4: I think I'm going to maybe wash dishes tomorrow. Looking in my lone allotted "man drawer" looks like I'm running low on underwear for some reason. I thought you deposited your underwear in the garbage.

R.I.P. Roger. You had a good run.
Yes, I remember Roger, though more by reputation than experience. I never met him and never saw him play. He mostly played in folk groups: Folksay Trio, The Tarriers, The Shanty Boys, and I never saw any of those. I don’t remember him ever playing with a bluegrass or newgrass band and he wasn’t on the bluegrass festival circuit. I think he spent a lot of time at Washington Square and worked The Village.
I doubt that he was a serious influence on any of the newgrass banjo players I know of.
