I'm startled at all the Herman's Hermits hits. I saw their singer, Peter Noone, playing Aladdin in a pantomime in 1973(ish). I left school in 1979 and didn't like the bestselling music of that time very much. My 1965 girlfriend's last name was "Brown" so the Hermit's "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" worked for me.

Much of the energy of the 1960s was spent by the time 1973 rolled around. "Kodachrome" was memorable because it dominated the AM airwaves about the time of liberation graduation.
At least the Allman Brothers were active with "Ramblin' Man" and the Stones with "Angie". I'm a little surprised nothing from the Eagles appeared -- they must have been shuffling band members between hits in 1973.
And yes, friends, "Smoke on the Water" came out in 1973.

I Googled "Peter Noone, pantomime" and was directed to the Bristol Hippodrome site. Apparently, Cary Grant, born Archie Leach in Bristol, also saw Peter Noone in panto. He took his Mother. We may have sat in the same audience. Prolly not though. There's a slightly odd reference on the Hippodrome website.
“Cary Grant used to bring his mother to the pantomime and sat in the stalls. I saw him several times. One year he brought his mother to my dressing room. “Peter Noone, who was starring in the pantomime, was thrilled to meet him. We had scenery that looked like it was off at a slant. Peter Noone asked Cary Grant what he thought of the three-dimensional scenery. Cary Grant said ‘Everything’s three-dimensional!’ So Peter asked what he thought of the [scenery’s] bent picture.” Enigmatically Grant replied: “That’s the story of my life”!
I have digressed a little. I hope you and Miss Brown had fun bopping around to Herman's Hermits and the rest Rob.
edit - I am wondering if the non-Brits know what 'pantomime' is.

Remember, it is pronounced "no one," not "noon."

Rob -- Can I play at YOUR reunion next year??? Sure, I guess. I hesitate because if you play I might have to go to it and I don't want to.

I graduated in 1978 - right in the middle of the disco era. My songs were probably all bad.

I graduated with Doc in '83. Our 30th reunion is on the 28th, as is the lovely Claire's 18th birthday. I will be present for neither.

Well I can see I missed the boat by not posing this question for '67.
MrR is on his class reunion committee and he offered Deep Blue as music for the event (April 27th), bless his heart!
MrR, Lar and I spent time searching through lists to find music that was appropriate to that time period of those grads but also decided we would only learn songs that Lar and I really liked and would think to add to our general repertoire....that narrowed the list considerably. Both the guys are a bit older than I am so some of the songs from those years just did not appeal to me.
What we decided to do was purchase a set of CDs that have a lot of those songs and play those through our sound system before/after our live music and during breaks. For our live set we'll do some music from that time period in additon to the songs we already have in our setlist.
The upside was that we tried some songs we wouldn't have normally tried and found some "keepers" in that bunch.

Looking through everyone's list I can find at least one song on every list that is in my gig book. I guess that makes me a little more versatile than I though I was.
I even do one from Todd's list, ;D Elvira.
