Immigrants cause nothing but problems. How is one to chose between Thai, Indian, Mexican, or Chinese takeout? Mike <choose> And that doesn't even count Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Ethiopian, and many other wonderful "immigrant" delights.

I really haven't noticed a lot of celebration, praise, or takeout orders, for those tasty delights Norwegian immigrants brought to this country, lutefisk and lefse. Not feeling the love here, fellas.
(we also brought over Swedish Meatballs, but did we get the credit? Hell no!)

"Norwegian Meatball" sounds like a derogatory description for a Minnesota lunkhead.

The underlying premise here -- that Trump could win anything -- is silly, but I think he gets this about 80% correct. www.nytimes.com/2024/01/11/opinion/columnists/donald-trump-election.htmlHe severely understates the contrast between the press's and the left's acceptance of -- and even cheering -- rioting, burning, killing, and destruction in the streets of major American cities for more than a year (they were "mostly peaceful protests") ... only to have their hair catch fire because of a single riot in Washington. He severely understates the over-reaction-full-of-disinformation (Indiana's Health Department shared a television ad claiming that children were at risk of dying from covid. The vaccine has proven to be exactly what its skeptics said it was. The disease and its progression have proved to be exactly what its skeptics were saying it would do) (that also led to the character assassination of anyone who questioned it) in the COVID debacle. He does mention the fact that Trump was actually being the opposite of the dictator he was accused of being ... all because he was trying to undo the unlawful dictates of the previous president and its administration, but he's pretty vague and unconvincing.

So honest question here, do you just assume that when pollsters ask who people are voting for and they're coming up with a greater percentage of them saying "Trump" than Biden, and any other declared Republican candidate is polling in single digits compared to Trump, that the pollsters just have it plain wrong? I mean, I can think of quite a few reasons why I think he shouldn't win, but a whole lot of people (or a few really loud people) are saying that it is a serious possibility. My math is assuming that friction, wind resistance, serious voting irregularities and Grisham/Baldacci/Child plots do not exist, or at least are not plausible.

For many Republicans, the visceral satisfaction of liberal anguish at a Trump restoration more than makes up for his flaws.

Trump is an American. Democrats are anti-American. To what flaws are you referring?

That Trump could win seemed beyond silly in 2016. But then.

I could go into why, but that doesn't matter. I don't believe them. And if you are right and Biden won 2020 fair and square, the same dynamic is in play and intact. And if I'm right and Biden did not win fair and square, well then, the same apparatus is still in place. I can't see any way Trump could ever be president again. In fact, the reason Trump leads the Rs is the same reason he led in 2016. It proved a dangerous game back then . No longer.

If you know how to win, it is in your best interest to act as though Trump could win.

For many Republicans, the visceral satisfaction of liberal anguish at a Trump restoration more than makes up for his flaws. That's in the 20% I think he gets wrong.
