Holy Moly! UConn's offense is a machine. A flowing kaleidoscope of body and ball until an open shot is found. So refreshing in an era of one on one hero ball. Alabama did too much standing around and watching while Sears dribbled, dribbled, dribbled, traveled, and then forced a shot.

From a friend's Facebook page:
You have to laugh at those critics who said the day Purdue wins a national championship is the day the sun won't shine.

They decimated the offense of every team they met in the tournament. Near the end of last night's game, Edie had 29 points and the rest of Purdue had 20 points. This from a team that averages many 3s per game. They just disappeared under crushing defensive pressure.

UConn's guards: Stephon Castle (6-6), Newton (6-5), Andre Johnson (6-5), Spencer (6-4). And Karaban (6-8) is used both at guard and forward. That's a lot of length on the perimeter.
Purdue's guards? Smith is 6-foot, Lance Jones is 6-1, & Fletcher Loyer is 6-4. They were smothered. And there was no help on the bench.

I gave up at the half. I had to get up early for work and I saw the handwriting on the wall. You can't win today's game without being able to hit three pointers. It's simple math. Your defense has to be 1/3 better to keep up. Nobody's defense is 1/3 better.

I think UConn specifically guarded the 3 point line. Tightly ! They gave up inside points, though their big guy was able to clog up some of that. But UConn wasn’t going to be beat at the 3 point arc.
When Purdue beat the Illini at the end of the regular season, they made 8 of 10 3 pointers in the second half. UConn took away the 3 point shot.

There is no trophy for second place. Oh well.
