Greetings, I'm a new member. Not to say that I am new. I'm an old guitar player. Not that I play old guitars. Doc Froon sent me this information. He said other old guitar players might lurk here. Lurking commencing. Welcome from one old picker to another. And I do happily play old guitars. And newer one. Sorta a guitar junky.

Long time no see. Howzit? Very long time. Life is different. Getting old kinda sucks. Life is a cabaret but I can't afford admission. A guitar is always within reach. I could be worse.

Welcome aboard, a few things to remember. We only talk about guitars every once in a great while. If it hasn't got a sunburst Marshall doesn't want to talk about it, but might offer to get his spray can and give it one. Believe nothing LJ says, or epaul to a lesser degree. Hammond is an Editor and WILL correct you every chance he gets. Howard is now happily retired and it doesn't matter what he was. You may refer to Millring as That Damn Potter. I do. Potter as in clay, not Harry. Terry makes guitars, damn good ones. Doc Shannon sounds like Forest Gump and is probably the nicest person you'll ever meet. Factorychef is a damn fine cook but go easy on his brownies if you know what's good for you. I'd talk more but DaWife aka Me Darling Wife wants dinner and we all know a happy men have happy wives. Perfect! I'm retired. I don't throw pots. I don't believe what most people say. I challenge anyone to make a brownie that was too strong for me. I smoke an ounce a month or so of high quality, legal cannabis. Don't worry. I know that doesn't seem like much but I add whiskey and diazepam.

Way back before I ever knew there was anything like internet forums and such, I read about bone saddles in AG Magazine, so I went online, a new experience for me, to see what I could find out about them. I found myself in the middle of a spirited discussion on exotic saddle materials. Some fellow was extolling at length the supreme sonic virtues of fossilized walrus tusk when these other two fellows began suggesting other exotic materials that perhaps might suit his ear even better. After coming up with a lengthy list of such sonically supreme saddle materials the fellow should try, they settled on recommending fossilized cow patties, ideally from Texas steers, as the very best of all. Oh, they had a hoot and the golden-eared fellow they were having a good time with left in an uppity huff) The two fellows? Rockerbob and Allan Houston (of Seagull fame). I loved it. I jumped in the thread only to discover it was a year old, but, I was in. I have bone nuts and saddles on my 2 acoustic guitars. They came that way and I can find no reason to change it. I'm not a believer in magic woods or fossil ivory, which of course is fossilized so no actual ivory is still there. It's a rock. I am, and alway have been a bit of a guitar snob. I also have replied to very old posts.

A bit of this thread was in the email Doc Froon had sent me. It is very flattering to have anyone remember one of my songs. There are so many songs these days.

Keith, Welcome to the party. I do not recollect receiving the initiation bottle of Jamesons. You can keep posting for a week, but if the bottle doesn't arrive by May 18 (my birthday) you will not be allowed to post anymore. Don't believe most of the stuff on this board, especially stuff from Cosmic Wonder, kenlarsson, t-bob, Dub, coachdoc, Cornflake, docfroon, paleo, dradtke, factorychef, Fiddlerina, theevan, PaulKay, brucemacneill, Cribbs, Hobson, concertinagirl, Dave Poor, Millring, Marshall, Russell Letson, epaul, billhammond, majorminor, TKennedy, drlj, Shannon, Marty, John B, aquaduct, howard lee, theevan, james, and epaul. (epaul is listed twice because he is especially unbelievable). I am not listed among those that David considers to be untrustworthy, but even I often doubt the veracity of the things I write, so there's no reason not to read them with some skepticism.

Since we seem to be getting the band back together, maybe someone should email Teja and ask for advice about planning a guitar cruise…

Welcome, Keith. I’m known as Dub around here and while I’m not yet the oldest member we’ve ever had, I am the oldest member we have now. I currently play three Martin Dreadnoughts, a wonderful archtop made by our own Terry Kennedy, a nice FrankenTele, plus assorted other stringed instruments. My fiddle playing better half is a member here too but doesn’t often post. She goes by “Fiddlerina.”

I can get that a Vegas for less money. I don't know about the band. I play live solo. I have a hard time hearing chord changes with a band.

Good to see you here, Keith. I still have the CD you and Lewis (sorry to read about your parting ways) recorded some years ago and it does get spin time. I hope you are well, after our last email exchange a couple of years ago.

My collaborator of 25+ years decided he couldn't stand me anymore and disappeared from my life at the beginning of 2021. Well, first he laughed at me in a zoom chat, hung-up while still laughing. Ha, ha, ha. You must be a funny guy. We like funny guys.

Doc here. Addled by technology? Aye. Tried to attach a recent photo and it was rejected as "File too big". I know I have added some mass, but getting an administrative scolding? That's just dark. Froon, Doc Froon

It is no secret that reading increases your vocabulary I would readily agree with that. Being a reader, I come across new and intersting words frequently. When I try to use them, however, they are often mispronounced, for which I am readily corrected. My excuse: I'm a reader, not a speaker. Welcome back, Rockerbob. We'll enjoy having your company again.
