I'm very sorry to hear that, Evan. It's been more than 10 years since my brother did the same and I still think of him daily.

I won a years worth of those in a Father's Day drawing last year. I do really like them. But, you only see tamarack once a year. So you got one set? He gets a set for eight more years.

I bet it is and was a beautiful campus, Shannon. What a great location to wander around and evoke memories.

Very cool that you could stop by like that!

I had heard that they would be more enhanced through a digital camera, which proved to be correct. I've only seen the lights once, in the late 80s or early 90s, so it was good to see them last night. I can imagine what someone like Cornflake could have done with this photo opportunity, I'm just a hack with an iPhone: I don't know why the lit buildings in the last picture look like that, but it's kinda cool, I thought.

I think we're just too out of range to be able to see anyting, although the local news continues to taut it. I will be checking every 15 minutes or so once it gets dark, though.

That is sad news to hear, Shannon, and I can certainly understand the yen for a visit. It might sound odd, but I hope you and Kathy enjoy your time. A place that is important to your past might be closing, but walking through it will bring back some wonderful memories and evoke a lot of smiles between you two. And, I'm guessing, wake up some things that you haven't thought about in years.

Samosas are wonderful things. They show up in a lot of places in Vancouver, because of the large South Asian population. Tasty, and generally come with a spicy/sweet dipping sauce. They could be the same as Sambusas. They could be, and now I'm curious. The first time I ordered Samosas in the US was at an Indian restaurant, and though they looked kind of like what I was used to on the outside, on the inside they were lightly spiced (curry) potatoes and peas. Good? Yes. But the kind I was used to with the ground meat and spices, and fairly hot? No. Just curious, which kind are you referring to, Rick?

Many people love Ed’s excellent music. I’m impressed by it myself but after seeing him live 3 times, I find it hard to enjoy as he is not bashful about expressing his own appreciation for it. Sounds like a certain Australian guitar player that gets mentioned quite a bit around here.

Bill, forget the coffee, you had me at samosas. Are you talking about what is also sambusas? I loved those as a kid in Kenya, and just within the past few years found exactly what I was missing all these years at an African restaurant in Des Moines. whenever I'm there, I stop by an African restaurant, (Taste of Africa), and pick up a bagful. More recently an Arab grocery store opened in Cedar Rapids where I have been known to stop by for a box of frozen chicken or been sambusas, which work nicely in the air fryer.

This is sunny beautiful Monday here I cross the river that’s in a low flood stage and it’s not dropping rapidly like it usually does it actually staying at that level. Maybe we are slowly working our way out of a drought situation. More storms are predicted for tonight.

We had a big loud storm and pouring rain this morning, in five minutes it was gone. I'm assuming it'll be cloudy for the rest of the day.

It's a nice day here, between rains yesterday and tomorrow. I've got my laundry done and am going to hang it outside before I leave for work.

Pickups are my starting point. If I give up on the open bed it's a slippery slope to the minivan. I like minivans. They are front wheel drive, and if you take the back seats out you've got a truck with a topper. And the "Soccer Mom" bumper sticker isn't required. I've owned two and they dont' make bad trucks at all.

Sorry to hear about the fall, Mike. Ouch.
Happy birthday, Chicago Bob! Of course you'll make it a good one.
It's been raining steadily since I woke me up when it was still good and dark outside, and hasn' lessened up yet. We need this.

I can't eat mushrooms or asparagus until mid-June, so I'm missing out on a big part of an Iowa spring this year. I did make a pot of cream of chicken and rice soup, however, which is tasting good and will last a few meals.
