I've always enjoyed Steely Dan but technically it's just a bit before my time (I was introduced to Larry Carlton in college with his solo stuff. Turned out he's most famous for his work with Steely Dan). Ran across this little piece today and I continue to learn more about the band to this day. Jimmy Page's favorite solo? Go figure. The 'about' page. www.qchatspace.org/Learn-MoreThat Breitbart.com and its readers, (the article extract in the OP is from there), are displeased doesn't surprise me. Once again, I am not addressing the subject matter itself, I’m concerned that the facilitation and promotion of keeping our message from your parents. One of the most distressing thing that has transpired in my lifetime has been the destruction of the family. There are better ways that can be created than “and we will help you keep it from your parents” On the other hand, it's been pretty sucessful getting Governor Youngkin elected. Maybe like everything liberal, outrageous, and nonscientific it will ultimately eat itself. Here's looking forward to that day.

You go man!
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow what a ride!” - Hunter S. Thompson

Yeah, way behind the curve. I wonder what strategy/technique was being offered as a means of "hiding" what you were doing. I've read in the past, and not even the recent past, about similar tricks for office workers who want to quickly switch their screen to something work-like when the boss walks up. On a mac it's control+arrow key to jump to a different desktop. Or maybe it's a version of uber's kill switch?!? At the bottom is a green bar. Click it any it takes you to Google. In the workplace many games had that so you could play all day and quickly take you to another screen to make it look like you were working. While the concept was the same, the issue is we have a government promoting this so you don’t get caught by our parents. So the role of upbringing by parents is not approved by the government ? We will tell you what we think you need to know, oh and don’t let your parent find out. Don’t worry we will provide a mechanism so that you can hide all we tell you from them. Once again, I’m not targeting the message this site represents, I’m alarmed that the government is choosing to provide what they think you should know and hide it from your parents. That is wrong is so many ways. What’s next ? A mechanism to report your parents for teaching you things we don’t think they should be teaching you and we will have the same exit strategy so you don’t get caught reporting them. And teaching this same crap in the public schools without letting parents know or have a say doesn't really happen because, doncha know, it's not in the official cirricula. Well, that's what I was told here anyways.

That language is an acoustic guitar player trying to explain electric crap he knows next to nothing about. Steve and Peter's comments about a real amp being better than modeling stuff through headphones make good sense. If I stick with this, I might get a good amp and soundproof a room in my house. My ValveTrain switches down to 2 watts (from a maximum of 6). I've had the Mesa modded to switch from 60 watts to 30 watts and down to 5 watts. There are plenty of others out there that will do the same. A practice amp, if done right, shouldn't need a soundproofed room. I myself have never pissed my wife off enough over volume that I've ever woke her up from sleeping. A Fender Blues Jr. used to be a pretty hot ticket for small amp, particularly some older ones that were pretty much built for hot rodding. They were cheap to begin with and with some luck you may still be able to find a decent one in a garage sale. After that, I haven't been seriously in the market for an amp since 1982.

The deliberately unspoken logical assumption that undergirds the entire global warming con is that people need to die. Massively. But not all people, just the powerless masses of common folk. Since that's proven over time to not be possible in a democratic society like ours where common folk hold power over the government (at least by definition if not actual practice) more underhanded methods like ESG economics are required.
Yes, they really are coming for all of you. You just don't know it yet.

Now Sri Lanka has fallen. Seems to be a common theme emerging- elitist western nations pushing the climate change hoax. Sri LankaThe way it works is something called ESG scores which push the Green New Deal around the world. Sri Lanka, Ghana, the Netherlands- they all have ESG scores in the 90th percentile. In Sri Lanka, similar to Netherlands (and most of the rest of Europe), they have banned modern chemical fertilizers which destroys the ability of countries to feed themselves. The US ESG score is somewhere in the mid-50s so we aren't dead yet. But Joe Biden and the left are pushing it as hard as possible. Screw COVID. That can't even compete in the cruelty department.

I had a modeling pedal (original big-deal Line 6 pedal before they started making amps) early in our duo life. Wife, as usual, hates my original amp and we got invited to play a festival in Dallas. We didn't want to ship an amp so we got the pedal. Did as much as I could to match the amp rig but by the time we got on stage, it sucked so bad we sold it the minute we landed in Virginia again.
Then we went out and got a small ValveTrain Lexington to travel with (it fit in a standard small suitcase).
The problems were myriad and really had nothing to do much with the actual "modeling" (although my experience is that they sound relatively like shit). Has to run through a sound system so there's no control of anything for the player. It all depends on whatever monitor the house has. And they'll never make you loud enough to "feel" what you're playing which is what an amp speaker in your back does (while simultaneously not pissing the singer off by playing over her). That's pretty much the problem in a nutshell. Amps move air, tubes distort pleasantly, and the whole rig becomes an integrated intrument. Models don't.
Just sayin'.

I just read that the latest varient is called "COVID19 Omicron varient BA.5".
They're going to have to come up with a better name than that if they are really serious about cheating in another election.

I go into classrooms with severely and multiply impaired kids. It's become some sort of unspoken thing that we'll all be wearing masks in those rooms forever. Which is a good idea and is good common sense. That strikes me as incredibly sad.

It's going around here. So far, only vaccinated folks have gotten it. And, as mentioned above, the cases have been quite mild so far. And that's the hilarious part of the whole thing. I thought vaccines were for preventing you from getting it.

Demerits for keeping too much junk in her car. Probably why her husband was in the truck. But it does make you wonder who exactly was driving the car.

What's the current ratio of debt to GDP? It was somewhere around 130% recently, rapidly approaching PIIGS territory and threatening complete monetary collapse.
Now that the whole world order we've all grown up with has shifted dramatically with the whole Ukraine and pandemic mess, how long do you all think until we go full Venezuela?

That is also showing up in the housing market, unbelievably. I know of two friends that bid above the asking price for their houses. One house was listed at $225,000 and their winning bid was $275,000 and they were excited that they got the house. Ours is the same way. I suspect there will be a lot of pain when that craters.

Ramping complex supply chains up again when you've actively destroyed them is a dicey proposition. I think there's still a long way to go with a 62% labor participation rate, diesel prices wreaking havoc for trucker and putting many of the independents out of business, a dearth of older workers that predated computers that still know how to run things when the computers crash, astronomical shipping costs, being almost a vassal state to China, global warming panic causing the government to behave like idiots, etc.
And it looks like the recession's already here. I'm really happy right now that we learned our lessons a little more than a decade ago and have managed to adapt ourselves pretty well at this point.

We bought my truck in 2017 and my wife's Jeep in 2019 and we paid both of them off last January. The truck's up to about 78,000 miles at this point but not working yet, I hardly put any miles on it. I usually get 3/4 of a tank of gas (Costco stops the pump at $100) every 3 weeks or so. Still, it's the bomb in versatility and comfort so it's mostly the only thing that gets driven. I think my wife's Jeep just cracked 12,000 miles and there's a reasonable chance she'll almost never go into work again.
We'll likely be buried in those cars.
