So so great. Oscar was unparalleled. A true musical genius.
My uncle Mike was his biggest fan.

Saw him with Humble Pie. I remember wondering who that great guitar player was.
Fun show.

Reminds me, Wendy's good friend Lisa had her last day at work 2 weeks ago. We happened to be passing by and dropped in. They did a huge luncheon, rented a limo, pulled out all the stops. And she'd only been there about 12 years.

Hah, I'm hearing Groucho Marx!
We've been watching episodes of You Bet Your Life. I grew up on 'em, totally new to Wendy. She's transfixed.
Congrats, Howard. I don't think I could have lasted.

Kid had the day off today. I was able to stay in bed until 7:20. What a luxury! She thinks she did well on the English part, not so sure about the math. I'd wager she did well. Have a wonderful day, everyone, and best wishes for the upcoming holiday to those who observe.
Wow, love this take!

Moderate.
Why didn't it tell me I'm a knuckle-dragging troglodyte?

Yeow. Looks to me like there were no lights on the pilon structure of the bridge. Nor on the ship. In the dark it's be hard to see. Plus you don't turn a cargo ship around quickly at all. My guess is the ship lost power, much like the New Orleans incident. Which, by the way, it wasn't Walt, it was his brother.

Some buffets advertise themselves as "All you CARE to eat." I've been to a couple where the first bite was all I cared to eat. Unless they stop you after your first plate and tell you, "We say that's all you can eat."
Not in Arnaudville

Yes, buffet. The gumbo, hog cracklins, pork stew, frittata, praline chicken & waffles were some of the standouts. All excellent. At 18.99 for a non-disgusting (as most all-you-can-eat joints are) all-you-can-eat brunch it was outstanding.

Correct. After our brunch at The Little Big Cup we walked across the street to the town's one grocery and were amazed to find 12 oz packs of Louisiana (not Chinese) crawfish tails for 8.98. about half market price. Bought some. Wendy's wonderful crawfish etoufee is in my future... Tell us about brunch, if you will ... buffet? Let's see if this works. thelittlebigcup.com/files/2022/03/2021_boucherie_Brunch_(1).pdf

Gumbo is a stew. Etouffee, I learned only recently, means "smothered." Correct. After our brunch at The Little Big Cup we walked across the street to the town's one grocery and were amazed to find 12 oz packs of Louisiana (not Chinese) crawfish tails for 8.98. about half market price. Bought some. Wendy's wonderful crawfish etoufee is in my future...

Headed to Arnaudville for a funeral visitation. Arnaudville is a little artsy town on Bayou Teche not too far from Lafayette. When Christine was at LSU she applied for a summer program in the French Alps (in a little town called Barcelonette). She rustled up the $3000 needed with great effort. Barcelonette was home to 3 brothers Arnaud who left in the late 18th century for the New World. Each founded a town, one in Mexico, one in Argentina and one in Louisiana, ergo, Arnaudville. There was a mandatory meeting for those accepted, agenda was hush-hush. At the meeting they were introduced to a descendant of Monsieur Arnaud who presented a check to pay the complete fare for all who were accepted. After the viewing, we have reservations at The Little Big Cup, a unique Arnaudville eatery and site of one of our first dates, back when we were meeting midway between Baton Rouge and the rice farm where Wendy was living. thelittlebigcup.com/
