All this may come as a surprise, but. Trump is president. He did nominate Kavanaugh. All allegations, none of which involved him as a adult, have been proven. The senate may vote him in. That is the process, so as much as it all of it disturbs me, the process has been observed. Shit. Pardon me? None of the allegations have been proven in any way. Period.

I'd expect pitchforks and torches in the streets of D.C. except pitchforks are work tools and the demonstrators aren't trained for work and the rivers of tears will probably extinguish the torches.

Exactly what I said, adding that none of the allegations concerned him as an adult. High school mostly.

The temptation is to think this entire matter will now disappear like a body in quicksand, never to be heard about again, as happened with the Thomas nomination, but I suspect it won't. The Thomas case was not famous for multiple women coming forth with allegations of improper behavior. I think the media can be counted on to continue digging into Kavanaugh's rowdy past for a long time, if for no other reason than to find out if he lied somewhere along the way. Whether they find anything of substance, of course, is another question, but I'm guessing the pot will never stop simmering, if not boiling. Another source of trouble is likely to be the House Judiciary Committee if the Dems gain control of that chamber in November. The ranking Democrat has vowed followup hearings and investigations if they're in charge come January.
As one who has big doubts about Kavanaugh's veracity, or at least his possibly selective memory, I don't say this with any glee. I'd much rather we could get along with the nation's business, and that Kavanaugh would prove his critics wrong and turn out to be an intellectually honest, even-handed, non-partisan justice.

I expect Ginsburg to either have a heart attack or retire giving Trump a chance to nominate a woman more conservative than Kavanaugh and watch the Democrats squirm. Should be fun. Ginsburg has already said she won't sit in the same room as Kavanaugh or words to that effect. The Donald has had 2 judicial successes in less than 2 years and he has at least 2 years to go. I know that Democrats are expecting to at least take the house in November but they still think Hillary won so...

Thanks, editors. I meant to say none have been proven. Gotta be proven to mean anything legally.

When did Hammond start playing stand up bass? Geez, that guy does look like me, although I would never buy that shirt. (And I DID play bass at one time in the late 1960s, in a band called the Inmates. I used a pick -- I was a fraud as a bass player.)

Thanks, editors. I meant to say none have been proven. Gotta be proven to mean anything legally. Or as Susan Collins noted last night, it's got to be more likely than not to mean anything, even if it's just the court of public opinion.

Thanks, editors. I meant to say none have been proven. Gotta be proven to mean anything legally. And they have to be investigated before they can be proven. So we’ll never see solid evidence one way or the other, much less proof of guilt or innocence.

So we’ll never see solid evidence one way or the other, much less proof of guilt or innocence. I'm sure you're right. I'm certain they could swab every building within say 30 miles of Ford's childhood home for DNA evidence to prove Kavanaugh, Judge, Ford and the other guy were all there at the same time. And then they could interview the remaining 330 million Americans in the country to see if anybody remembers the party since the people who have been identified as being there actually weren't. Yeah, that should do it.
