Positive energy LJ. What kind of surgery was it? I had an ankle fusion, bone graft and something was done to the tendons so my foot will be flat on the ground. Surgery lasted 5 hours and 20 minutes. I have at least an 8 week recovery time. The surgery went well. Now I have to cope with the recovery. Done correctly an ankle fusion is a good operation. Big deal though. Good luck!!

LJ, I hope you get home soon and that your recovery passes quickly. I feel the same about you as I feel about Todd: you are one of the good guys anywhere. You will be in my prayers.

Kudos to the therapist for having a gait belt on you.
My gait belt was useful for helping get me out of chairs early in my recovery in addition to providing extra walking stability.

They used one on me when I was in hospital but didn't know what they called it.

Last night was difficult. The med transport got me home & in the house but the ride home really made me nauseous. I slept for 3 hours after getting home then hit the lounge chair for the night. I have had breakfast, pain meds, and a clean up so I feel better. Barb is going to pick up a walker today so I can do the one-legged pirate hop to get into chairs, etc. I know things will slowly get better but last night was a bitch on wheels. When I was under anesthesia, I dreamed about the Barbie movie. The nurses all found that funny and kept calling me Ken. I had double vision for 5-6 hours which they said was due to the anesthesia. I know there were a lot of Barbies in that dream.
I greatly appreciate all the good wishes, too.
This is going to be hard for a while but I have a lot of support helping me cope. I did an old joke with the anesthesiologist that he fell for. “When will I be able to tap dance?” “Wow! You are a tap dancer?……wait a minute. You are screwing with me aren’t you?” “Yes. Yes I am.”
I am loopy. If there are typos, give me a break.

Thanks for posting, LJ. It’s probably not what you felt like doing but we worry and appreciate any news we can get.

I feel pretty good, Dub. I just hate not being able to do much. It’ll improve.

Yeah, I don’t hop as easily as I did 50 years ago. It is only for short distances.

Don't worry, LJ. Neither does Lawrence Welk.
