I just heard from LJ's wife, Barb.
She wrote that it has been a very long day. LJ is finally out of recovery, did very well, and is groggy but pain free for now (as one would be post-surgery). He is being checked in to a regular room.
That's all I've got at this time.

That's as good as the news could be at this point.

Tomorrow, in LJs honor, I will go to Traders and pick up a tub of chocolate chip cookies.

Wonderful! So glad to see this news. Thank you, Howard.
Here's hoping it went as well as LJ and all of us prayed it would.

Good morning.
I may be a bit dopey—more dopey than usual, I should probably say.
My surgery lasted over 5 hours. The orthopedic team told Barb everything went very well. Long recovery ahead. No pain because I am pumped full of joy juice. I know that will change. Just waiting for the doctor/surgeon to arrive to give me the full story. I will be in touch when I can. Keep sending good thoughts my way.

Well, LJ beat me to it, which is proof that, even though he is "pumped full of joy juice," he is still two steps ahead of me.
Hoping all goes well moving forward and you continue to be pain free, LJ.

I like Mike's idea. I'll eat a few cookies today for LJ.

I'm so glad the surgery went well, drlj. Sending you my best wishes, prayers, etc.; apply as needed. And thank goodness for joy juice.

Positive energy LJ. What kind of surgery was it?

I visited Todd this afternoon and he had this note from Barb. It sounds LJ may be going home tomorrow if nothing else like that happens.

Well crap. At first I was confused as to why the PT would want LJ to hop on one foot to the lav, as it is not something I ever plan on doing, but then I remembered he didn't really have a choice.
Be safe, LJ!

I am ok. I don’t recommend a having a Code Blue but if you do, have it some place where 20 doctors, nurses, aides, and who knows what show up in seconds to do everything they can to find out what’s wrong. The Oxy meds they were pumping into me were just too strong for me to handle. I never take pain meds even with all the pain I have had. All the stuff I was taking was just making me sick. Anyway, I feel a lot better tonight, my head is clear, and I am taking different meds. I appreciate the concern. The Physical Therapist was teaching me how to use the walker with one leg so I can do things like use the bathroom. I won’t be able to use the knee scooter for two weeks due to incisions. She kept me from what could have been a serious fall by grabbing the gait belt and lowering me to the floor, protecting my head and my fresh from surgery leg. Not a great experience but I survived.

Positive energy LJ. What kind of surgery was it? I had an ankle fusion, bone graft and something was done to the tendons so my foot will be flat on the ground. Surgery lasted 5 hours and 20 minutes. I have at least an 8 week recovery time. The surgery went well. Now I have to cope with the recovery.
