I am trying to normalize. All the pills do make me nauseous, though. I don’t like that.

A problem I have is that my normal does not equate to any recognized societal normal.

Keep that leg up! Good job. It’s elevated—even when I am sleeping. My pain level is minimal & the meds I am on just make want to sleep. I will talk to the doctor tomorrow. And, Barb is taking great care of me. She is in charge and I do what she says. I just don’t want her to stress out so I do tell her when to slow down.

LJ is doing somewhat better today. He had a rough few days because of all the meds—including pain meds—they had prescribed. Barb talked with the doctor and got him taken off of those. Now he’s just taking the .81mg baby aspirin like many of us do and Tylenol if needed. He says his pain is minimal, his appetite has returned, and his outlook is much better. He wants to keep us updated but hasn’t had the energy to post.
We’re keeping LJ in our prayers.

Good news. LJ, if you see this, I hope you are getting some much-needed rest now and building up your energy/strength. You got through the first tough week!
We are also hoping you will be up and about later in the summer when we bring Her Grace to visit the University of Chicago.

Update: I had a text from LJ this morning. His sleep patterns have been disrupted and getting around the house still presents difficulties. He has checked in to the Soundhole a few times but says he doesn't have any posting in him right now. We'll see him back here down the road a ways.
Hang in there, LJ. 🌼

Just had a thick, crunchy oatmeal cookie and thought about LJ as I crunched my way through it. Be well LJ.

Greetings, fellow babies. I am still quite tired and sleeping a lot, but I am firmly ensconced in the land of the living. The pain meds made me violently ill but they are all out of my system now and I actually slept fairly close to normally last night. My appetite has returned pretty well. I can only eat one cookie instead of three, but that’s ok by me. I will just get bigger cookies. Barb has done a great job of keeping me moving forward. I am not sure what I would have done without her. I see the doctor tomorrow for the splint-cast and suture removal. Next step is the hard cast. It’ll be mid-May/early June before my first steps on the rebuilt ankle so patience is going to be the key. That and the case of scotch that arrived today. I feel like I lost 3-4 days due to the pain med fiasco but I am back on track now. I am sure there will be some tough days ahead, but I will cross that bridge when I get there. I need to get my sleep schedule back where it belongs, which might take a few days. I know sleeping a lot is a normal part of healing, but a couple more weeks should make a difference there.

Glad you're doing better LJ.
Just remember cookies, scotch and pain meds don't go well together.
