Phil won the Doug/Dennis guitar last year, right? Are there any plans to further the tradition or has it found its forever home?

Those of you who were at Idiot Jam last year got to meet Pam and Tara, sisters of our late friend Dennis O'Neil. I recently contacted Pam via Facebook to encourage them to return this year. Pam responded that Tara would be coming but events on the island prevent her attendance this year. Let's look forward to welcoming Tara. Fiddlerina is in contact with Tara and just received notice that she is coming along with Leslie, her partner/SO. They are driving and plan to stay in the Amanas. Leslie is a woodworker and hopes that Joe can arrange a visit to the Amana shops he told her about last year. This will be nice.

Todd said things are moving along and thinks he may get out of the hospital by this evening. I hope so, the guy be thru to much already. We’ve been texting with Todd and, I'm sorry to say, he is still in Hospital. I think I’ll go pay a visit.

I will be in the shop all day Thursday and only a half day on Friday, so I hope that will fit their schedule.

I just got home from visiting with Todd. Peyton and Taylor were there too. Had a nice talk. He says “hello” to all SoundHolers.
Todd looks good but he’s tired. He’s been having A-fib which they think is just because of the strain of surgery. He had that in the spring too. He thinks they’re going to keep him there until Friday, at least. He’s been lying in bed for a week so he won’t have a lot of strength when he gets out.
Friday evening will go as planned. Even if Todd is out by then, we may not see him there.
I’ll bring the new CUBE Street Ex for sound.
Saturday is still on for the Depot but the girls suggested we may want to gather outside around their home for Saturday afternoon. Weather should be nice and they are prepared to host us all. Or perhaps spend some time each place.
Saturday evening meal will be at the Pizza Ranch. Todd has arranged a room for us there. The Mexican restaurant has changed hands and Todd thinks the new operators would never get us fed and out in time to get to the Mercantile in Garrison.
The Hitchin’ Post in Garrison has closed so no option there.

Things have taken an unexpected turn at our home over the weekend. A close Cousin of my wife passed away. This particular cousin, I have known and been close to for 55 years so it has been like losing a cousin myself. His visitation is this Thursday evening.
It is with regret that I find myself and our family unable to host the normal Thursday get together at our home here in Vinton. My deepest apologies for this, but these things make their own schedule. Visitation is Thursday night in a community near us and we will need to be in attendance. The funeral will be Friday morning, so my intention is to be at the Friday, and Saturday night festivities. I am so sorry about this, but trust that you will be able to find some other accommodations for dining and gathering that night.

John asked earlier about the McCormick Guitar, and it is my intentions to have it along with me on Saturday night to perform a last song on it before it is raffled off to its next caretaker, whomever that person is.
I hope that it brings as much joy to the next recipient as it has for me. It has been played at several open mics and a couple of solo gigs this year, so it has had some work put on it.
I had contacted Marty about getting the raffle tickets to Bill for this event. I do not know if that has happened, but there may be other ways to make this happen if we do not have those tickets.

Who is coming Thursday from out of town? I know JohnB and Rob are planning Thursday arrivals, anyone else?
Fiddlerina and I have planned to be in Vinton Thursday evening and will meet with any of you who’d like to join us. I’m sure we can find a place to eat and maybe hang too. Maybe get a few tunes in somewhere.

My original plan was to raffle it off every year. Only Old Timers and above can join the raffle, as we want it back after a year to be raffled again. If you decide not to raffle it please return it to me but I would prefer it continue to earn charity money every year. Chris Heard entrusted it to me and I figured raffling it every year was a good tribute to Doug. I am starting to be able to play again after 4 years of crippled hands and I would either play it or find a worthy home for it.

I'm very sorry to learn of your loss, Phil. I have one first cousin with whom I have been close since we were 4 years old, and I can imagine how painful it is to lose a relative who is also a good friend. Condolences to your wife, her family, and to you.

I echo what Howard said, though I have no cousins with whom I am close.
Thanks for your past hospitality, but this year, take care of yourselves.

I just heard from Peyton & Taylor that the docs are going to keep Todd in hospital for another week.
They wondered if IJ could be postponed but I explained that out-of-towners have made plans.
We’ll all do the best we can and maybe visit with Todd over FaceTime or Zoom.

I could lay out a hundred or so brownies and everyone could eat a few, wander around Vinton for a few days. To bad I don't have a bus. I could pick up everyone and take them to Garrison and back. Just like the summer of Love in the 60's. Peace and Love.

We will proceed as planned. Fiddlerina and I are looking forward to seeing all y’all.
Dennis O’Neil’s sister Tara and her SO will be joining us at some point. Not sure when, possibly Thursday evening.
