Also, would someone like to volunteer to be the official documentarian so we can get plenty of pics and footage for Todd?

I can for sure take a lot of pictures, as long as people don't mind me snapping photos. I'm not as sure about video, but we haven't had that in quite a few years.

I'm back home from my little vacation.
Phil and I were discussing Friday night music today, Logan is advertising that there is going to be great music, and I believe he expects a lot of music.
In light of that, and the fact that Phil and I would like to do some tunes together, we thought it might we wise to have a bigger sound system. Nothing wrong with Dub's CUBE, but it has limited inputs.
So, Phil is going to bring his 6 channel mixer, and we can use it to drive the powered speakers that Logan has. This will allow multiple performers to play together if desired.
We'll also bring extra mics, mic stands, cables, DI boxes etc, etc, and I'll bring the base in case anyone wants to use it, electric, short scale.

I have no idea why Logan would advertise such a thing. Where did he (she?) get the idea there would be some kind of show? Our Friday nights have never been “shows.” It’s a time for us all to talk and catch up in a more personal way than we can here. People don’t want to drive long distances to see friends and then be faced with doing a show. In the past, we’ve set up a little single-mic system in case someone wanted to share a tune with friends but it’s never been a big music night. Mostly just enjoying each other’s company and possibly consuming libations. Wherever we’ve done Friday nights, no audience has appeared nor has one been wanted. As I recall, the few people at the O-Zone in Urbana Rurala and the Vinton American Legion might have preferred we weren’t there. At the Garrison bar, we generally filled the place so there was little room for the “regulars,” either of them. If one of us got up to share a tune, it was just that, sharing among friends. I don’t care who brings sound Friday night. I don’t really care whether any sound is there at all. Phil is welcome to do as he wishes but I see no reason for our group to feel any responsibility to attract an audience for the proprietor of a restaurant. YMMV.

Dub, I'm well aware of what Friday nights normally are. I didn't arrange this. I've never talked to Logan about it. But everyone needs to understand the reality. We will be outside in what is called the bullpen, a large beer garden, no indoor seating. The business is open to the public and Friday nights are a busy night for the business. I see posts on FB and that's where my info came from.

So Vinton now has a new BBQ joint and across the street a new Mexican joint? Are they any good? Does each table have a fkyswatter on it?

If it’s really outside, I’m thinking we will all be outta there by 7:30. I know I will.

Todd posted on July 4th that we would be there, you've had 2 months to review, study, follow, question the location. So, I think something just came up and I'll have to miss ijam this year. Merry Christmas.

When Todd suggested this venue, it was under construction. I mistakenly assumed they were constructing a restaurant-like building. You’re telling me this is not the case.
I think an outdoor venue is fine assuming weather and temperatures cooperate.
I also think the proprietor’s advertising our get together as a musical event his customers should attend is over the top. We’ve always been kind and generous to our Friday night hosts and they’ve never expected anything from us but our patronage.
It’s evidently too late to change this now and I’m sure we’re all looking forward the event.

Darryl, I hope you will attend.
I don't think we are under any obligation to perform. I am going to a restaurant as a patron to have a meal with some friends. Do what you want-- perform or don't. We aren't there to sing for our supper. If the owner has advertised otherwise, that's his problem.
As for temperature, I will wear my jacket and leave when that's not enough.

To attempt some clarity on the Beast & Bird. It has been an outside venue this summer. Logan has now added indoor plumbing so there is that! Previously, there has been a Spot-A-Pot available. As to ordering, and pickup. They have a window at the Smoke House in back of the actual building. The building is gray, and there is a parking lot on the North side of the building. You order and pay at the window (around back), your food is brought out to you. There are some large communal tables under shade sails, plus some smaller ones as well. Think of it as opportunity and not obligation. They have been working hard to get the building ready, but I am not aware that it is done yet.
For those so inclined that they would like to share some music, there is going to be a system setup. Some of us locals have performed at this venue and know Logan pretty well. No expectations for anyone, feel free to visit, those that want to play some tunes can. This is new for all of us, so again, no pressure but it is there.
Deb and I will be in attendance on Friday night, but still have a visitation on Thursday that we will need to attend, so see everyone that can make it on Friday night.

To be clear, I did not talk about any performance with Logan either, just wanting to assist, since I live in town, and it is easier for me to move equipment around.

I'd like to suggest another possibility: Logan misunderstood and misinterpreted the focus of Idiot Jammers who just want to go and enjoy some good barbecue and be together. Perhaps he thought that since they are all musicians who have come to spend a weekend playing music together, they'd want to play at the Beast and Bird. Or maybe he didn't misunderstand and is simply using it as an excuse to lure more local customers. We may never know. I don't know about "over the top," but certainly presumptuous.
But what I am really proud of is that this thread has run at least six pages and there hasn't been one mention of Hitler.

Greetings from the Three Rivers rest area on Interstate 80, central Illinois.
Looking forward to all festivities, . I think Logan is new to owning a fixed place of business and new to owning a music venue, and am inclined to cut him some slack. I think the Facebook post reflects his excitement at being part of IdiotJam.
Looks like some chilly evenings ahead. I hope the management of the Cobblestone doesn’t mind us hanging out and picking three nights in a row.

I think we used to have a rule that Hitler couldn't be mentioned until page 7, so don't give up hope.
