I forgot I admitted a musical event - Treble Makers (the band lasted 20 years) and there's so many people that come there from other bands like Zappa (bass), Tommy Castro (dummer), Jefferson Airplane, Tuna, Grateful Dead (drummer, bass).
It's always a good time to find some great souls when I come in this place.... and "by George" (Lucas)

I like the classical en suite music - guitar, horns, and "violins" .... Rachael hasn't practice - she did more practice -her voice/delivery - the Jackson Browne' song was new songwriter (aka folkie). Rachael Price is a good jazz singer. Here's another great song - "What I'm Doing There" I'm not sure who penned the song. I prefer another singer - Ruth Moody or Bonnie Raitt or EmmyLou or Enya or Adele or Alicia Keys or Baez

I really love this one. Actually, I love the whole soundtrack. Much better than the movie itself. My daughter watched this with me when I posted it. I asked her to make sure that after I shuffle off this mortal coil, one of my musician friends plays this at the after-party. Footnote: Barber's Adagio for Strings reminds me of someone who was very dear. Thank you for posting. (Is that Bradley Cooper?)
I remind my departed very beautiful friend - he loved Barber's nocturnes. This video wasn't Bradley Cooper - it was Lenny Bernstein

Rooney Report 12/30/24
BOOK BANNING: A federal judge in Iowa temporarily blocked the state’s Republican-backed law that bans books depicting and describing sex acts from public school libraries. Judge Stephen Locher said that the law “makes no attempt to target such books in any reasonable way.” He described the law as “one of the most bizarre laws I’ve ever read.” Among books already removed from school libraries are George Orwell’s dystopian “1984,”, “The Color Purple” by Alice Walker, and “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley. Judge Locher said the law “requires the wholesale removal of every book containing a description or visual depiction of a ‘sex act,’ regardless of context,” and that, “The underlying message is that there is no redeeming value to any such book even if it is a work of history, self-help guide, award-winning novel or other piece of serious literature. In effect, the Legislature has imposed a puritanical ‘pall of orthodoxy’ over school libraries.”
It sound weird but I didn't write it......

Oppenheimer (2023) is an extraordinary film that captivated my senses from start to finish. This historical drama, directed by the brilliant Christopher Nolan, weaves a mesmerizing narrative that delves deep into the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant physicist whose work changed the course of history during World War II.
From the moment the film begins, the audience is transported back in time to the tumultuous era of the 1940s, and Nolan's impeccable attention to detail immerses us into the historical setting effortlessly. The cinematography is awe-inspiring, and the breathtaking landscapes blend seamlessly with the authentic period settings, bringing Oppenheimer's world to life.
The casting is nothing short of perfection. Cillian Murphy delivers an Oscar-worthy performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer, capturing the complexity and inner struggles of the enigmatic physicist with unparalleled depth. His portrayal is nuanced and compelling, allowing us to empathize with Oppenheimer's moral dilemmas and the burden he carries as the father of the atomic bomb.
The supporting cast, including talented actors like Robert Downey, Tom Conti, Matt Damon, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman and further enriches the movie, elevating it to cinematic greatness. Each character is beautifully crafted and contributes significantly to the story's emotional weight.
One of the most impressive aspects of Oppenheimer is its intelligent and thought-provoking script. Kudos to the screenwriters for expertly exploring the ethical questions surrounding scientific discoveries during wartime, the moral responsibilities of scientists, and the consequences of unleashing such powerful weaponry on the world.
The film's score, composed by the incomparable Hans Zimmer, is nothing short of a symphonic masterpiece. It amplifies the emotional impact of every scene, pulling at our heartstrings and enhancing the overall experience.
Christopher Nolan's direction is, without a doubt, a work of art. His ability to interweave historical events with human emotions and philosophical musings is nothing short of genius. He masterfully guides the audience through a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving us contemplating the consequences of our actions long after the credits roll.
Oppenheimer is not merely a historical retelling; it's a powerful reflection on the frailty of humanity, the pursuit of knowledge, and the consequences of playing with forces beyond our comprehension. This film will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to witness it on the big screen.
In conclusion, Oppenheimer is an unparalleled cinematic experience that deserves every single one of its five stars. Christopher Nolan's visionary direction, outstanding performances, breathtaking cinematography, and emotional depth make this film a true masterpiece. It is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates the power of storytelling and the impact of historical events on the course of human history.

We lave ours up until Epiphany for essentially the same reasons as coachdoc. Neither my wife nor I put a lot of store in the church calendar but we like having a cutoff date for lights and decorations, however arbitrary it may be. We had decorations, Episcopal calendar - I had family (good memories) I have different family - in dimensions (H or H?) or "around the globe" (dialects) Ho Ho Ho (english american) How how how (Brit upper crust) O O O (wolves) hohoho (the departed Mr. Not Pronunciation)

I liked/drank his wine - cab and mer - a looooong time
Anonymous Writer - “You are welcome to use my words, and, as you see, I prefer not to be quoted. Rewrite it anyway you like and claim it in whatever fashion makes sense to you."
"The secret is out, one of the premier vineyard properties in Sonoma County belongs to Remick Ridge. This vineyard and the Remick Ridge brand belong to Tommy Smothers of the Smothers Brothers fame. When Tommy and his grandfather Ed Remick started looking for vineyards in the early 70's they came upon this property in the hills of Sonoma and as Tom explains; his grandfather stuck out his finger and said "this is it" once you taste these wines you'll know that the finger pointed in the right direction. Tommy Smothers say's, "Making wine is so close to to show business. Wine like comedy, is subjective. Either people like your wine, or your songs, or your comedy, or they don't. Each is a creative process and you're only as good as your last effort."
