It was indeed a tweak of 'uhuru'. Wikipedia says...
Gene Roddenberry had intended his new female communications officer to be called "Lieutenant Sulu".[1] Herb Solow pointed out how similar this was to "Zulu" and thought it might act against the plan for racial diversity in the show, so the name Sulu remained with George Takei's character.[2] "Uhura" comes from the Swahili word uhuru, meaning "freedom". Nichols states in her 1994 book Beyond Uhura that the name was inspired by Robert Ruark's 1962 book Uhuru, which she had with her on the day she read for the part. When producer Robert Justman explained to Roddenberry what the word uhuru meant, he changed it to Uhura and adopted that as the character's name.[2] Coincidentally, the end credits of the film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country incorrectly refer to Uhura as "Uhuru".
George Takei has always spoken of her lovingly. She seemed a good woman.

Is that what happened? I thought he'd asked to be removed.
(My fave Dylan album is Highway 61 revisited).

I read an article* that said that the Them Gloria lyric “she comes to my room, then she made me feel alright” was too racy for Chicago radio, (they'd probably have fainted at the Patti Smith version!) and was tweaked by the Shadows of Knight to “she called out my name, that made me feel alright.” Jimy and pals put out a new song just a couple of years ago. Sounds a lot like an oldie.
RIP Jimy

I watch a lot of sailing channels on YouTube. Inflatable paddle boards are sometimes used by live-aboard sailors to tootle around anchorages. When not in use, the boards are often left for long periods on deck or tied to the boat's guard rails in direct and blazing Caribbean or Mediterranean sunshine, seemingly without suffering harm . If it were my board that burst, I'd definitely try my luck at getting a refund or replacement board.

The report in the OP is from infamous AGW climate denialist, former weatherman and blogger Anthony Watts, one of the best known and most thoroughly and repeatedly debunked denialists/bullshitters out there. Dis/misinformation, idiocy and lies are his stock-in-trade. Wasteing time on and affording any credibility to his utter bunk is like turning to creationists for insights on cosmology. rationalwiki.org/wiki/Anthony_Wattswww.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Anthony_Watts

The current economic malaise is a global phenomenon. Economic indicators in the US are not unusually discouraging/unfavourable in a global context.

As I have said countless times before, Heartland are utterly discredited liars, climate change deniers, and shills for fossil fuel funders.

CDC stuff. Monkeypox spreads in different ways. The virus can spread from person-to-person through: direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex touching items (such as clothing or linens) that previously touched the infectious rash or body fluids pregnant people can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta It’s also possible for people to get monkeypox from infected animals, either by being scratched or bitten by the animal or by preparing or eating meat or using products from an infected animal. Monkeypox can spread from the time symptoms start until the rash has fully healed and a fresh layer of skin has formed. The illness typically lasts 2-4 weeks. People who do not have monkeypox symptoms cannot spread the virus to others. At this time, it is not known if monkeypox can spread through semen or vaginal fluids. www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/transmission.htmlKatelyn Jetelina who runs the Your Local Epidemiologist site has been keeping an eye on stuff and will no doubt continue to do so. Michael Osterholm has discussed as well.

Monkeypox is not well named. It is more common in rodents but also affects quite a few other animals. Aggression is no more a symptom of monkeypox than it is of chickenpox.

I've been to and enjoyed Verdi and Wagner operas. Got unexpectedly into Monteverdi and Gluck for a while. I don't have much of an interest in most operas and slightly envy the rapture that passionate opera lovers seem to feel. Of twentieth century stuff, Gershwin and Philip Glass are more pleasing to my ears than Britten, which I struggle with. I have a bit of an irrational loathing for Gilbert and Sullivan.
Time for the lovely flower duet again.

There are quite a lot (10?) of different Crais book narrators on Audible including the author himself. (He sounded okay to me). Perhaps somewhere amongst them there will be a happy combination of book and narrator for you.

I don't doubt that Crais is a good author. I have enjoyed his "influence" Chandler . I probably ought to give him a go. I'm not the reader I used to be though and even my monthly Audibles are piling up a bit. Of the US crime writers I've tried, fellow Mystery Writers Grandmaster James Lee Burke has been my favourite.

"Phew! Bloody hot. 40.2°C, (104.36°F) in London. Britain/Britons not very well equipped to comfortably cope with it." Today I was listening to a British journalist reporting on this from London. It sounds pretty awful. She said last night was the hottest night on record so no one slept very well. I asked Google the temperature at 5:00am this morning/last night and it was 77°F. It was warmer in some other cities I usually tolerate it quite well and have known hotter on my travels but it helps to be a bit more acclimatised.
