Mr Mitch just gave a good and strong speech about the need for Congress to accept the Electoral College results. Good on Mitch. Agreed. I almost like the man.

The taxation rates in the US are amongst the lowest in the western world. Perhaps upping some of said tax rates to pay for all the decaying infrastructure and providing medical care for everyone would be an excellent way to recycle some money from those with the most.
That being said, predicting what will happen in the next four years is a mugs game. Not only have our governments gone deeply in debt to help people thorugh covid, the tax take is dropping considerably, because so many businesses have been shattered by this. I’m sure many democrats will be expecting the implementation of their wildest hopes, but the reality is, there’s not going to be much money to do anything but survive, and nudge things along in the economy.

Spotify has almost everything, it’s incredible. They don’t pay artists enough, they should increase their rates and drop free accounts, though I think people would just go back to stealing music again.

So, I would demure on this. This pic was taken of the inside of LJ’s car not long ago. I’m not so sure about ‘missing’ cookies. Those crumbs are from a completely unrelated event. Ah. Bauman made you do the drive through McDonald’s again?

I have a strange Mary Ann story for you. You might not like it. Don't want to shatter anybody's dream, but , . . . . , My son-in-law travels a lot for work. It's a part of his job. So his company pays for business class or first class for him. So one flight back he's sitting near this nice older woman on a plane. And she starts hitting on him. Now he's a tall handsome articulate black man from Jamaica. And she says, "Do you know who I am?" turns out it's Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. Trevor didn't know that. And in the course of flirting with him, she says "So, you don't like older women? Well, I've got a younger daughter you might like to meet." - I kid you NOT ! This story has been in the family for about 3 or 4 years. I'm not making this up. Sorry to burst anybody's bubble. What? He had a chance to make it with Mary Ann and didn't go for it? Maybe Mary Ann and her daughter at the same time! (The mind boggles.)

I always seemed to get into emergency with weirdness happening. Seems to be less so now, but I’m also not ending up there after late night hockey games anymore.
My fave happened sometime around midnight, and sitting with a friend who’d gotten a concussion. Guy gets wheeled in in a wheelchair. Definitely drunk, but hadn’t been stuffing things up his butt. He’d been playing with a nail gun, and had nailed his foot to a two by four. It was still there. His friends had kindly cut off the ends to get him in the car.

Congrats. I’ve made the decision to drop my last bit of consulting work I did. It had dwindled to a few hours a month, and had simply become bothersome. On to better, more fun things.

And, btw, raw tuna is one of those things that needs to be tasted to be believed. Delicate, fresh perfection.

Wimps. If someone is using raw ingredients, they should know what they are doing. I have eaten Sushi meals in a much greater number than years LJ’s been on the planet. Never gotten sick from it. Industry is highly regulated, and they freeze their fish to an insanely low temp, way lower than can be done in a fridge freezer. The danger with Sushi, if someone just goes to the store and buys fish, is parasites. Don’t go there. I have never had beef tartare. I’d only get it in a reputable restaurant. i dont’ know about this cannibal sandwich thing. But as far as beef goes, I like it rare. Knock off the horns and hooves, wipe its ass, and scare it a little on the grill. As Anthony Bourdain said, I want my protein to look like it died screaming.

Not to mention the fact that they carry Hanta virus, which is about 40 percent fatal. Don’t want them around the house.

Bruce and I will march happily, dreamily to the reeducation camp. If it begins to wear on us we'll just order up some Soma. In no time we'll be shitting rainbow unicorns. :-) The horns hurt, I gotta tell you.

Thanks for the explanation, Gene. I was wondering about the differences myself. Meticulous work, there. How much of the shaping is by power, how much by hand? I assume you cut the pieces out with a band saw, but that’s an assumption. Is the hollowing out of the top all done by hand planes?

Gene, they look pretty nice except for that piece of wood on the right has obvious defects in the wood, it’s got all these weirdo lines across it marring it’s appearance. I see you’ve done a bunch of work on it already, and just so it’s not a complete loss I think you should finish it and then sell it to me for like a hundred bucks. I’ll give ito my daughter, who isn’t so fussy about the woods apoearance. No need to thank me. Mike I cannot disagree with such a detailed analysis and keen observation. Let me see what I can do, and I'll get back to you MIke is from Oregon, which is a very green place. So, I’d suggest before sending it to Mike, you paint it a nice, solid green. No stain, good old fashioned, thick latex. It’ll look real nice and hide those nasty marks on the wood.
