The Lions are loaded and looking good and are a top pick to reach the Super Bowl.
And the Tigers, Holy Cow, the Tigers, after years of basement dwelling, have a young, talented team and are now only three games out of the final ALC Wild Card spot in the playoffs, nipping at the heels of the sadly faltering Twins with only 16 games left to play.
There will likely be three teams from the Central Division in the ALC playoff. A record. The fourth Central Division team, the White Sox, are now 51 games out of first place. Also a record.

There is room for more in this country. Most of it's empty. The Dakota's, non-mountain Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming, are 90% empty. This country has 90% of its people packed into 10% of its space. Maybe 5%. Housing is fucked.

Trump does demonize illegal immigrants. A caution not to do the same to those who with only a R or D choice chose to support him. In the broad context, Trump was right when he said there were fine people on both sides.
The influx of refugees across the border is an issue. I sure don't see just one side, or two, there might be five or six, all with good reason. Personally, I see nothing wrong with honesty. It isn't them, it's us. Nothing wrong with self-interest. They aren't bad, rotten people, we just can't handle any more refugees at this time. Sorry. Infrastructure and services are full up. Not you. Us.
Maybe later, but for now a break is needed. Place a moratorium on the admittance of refugees. Keep it in place until we have a grip on what we have to deal with and have made the necessary placements and assimilation.
Deport serious criminals, but those that are here shouldn't be hunted down, they can stay. But, no more. Close the border, with troops if needed, send a clear message. No more refugees admitted. Not until we are ready for more and want more. And then it will be done orderly with a coherent immigration plan in place.
There are other plans, ideas, thoughts. Won't argue them. They are probably better. But, I would sure stick with the "they aren't bad people, they are desperate people, but we just can't handle the world's number of desperate people" approach. Sorry. Border's closed until further notice. Don't demonize the other, admit honestly to self-interest. Own it.

Some lies and untruths are of a magnitude more dangerous and hateful than others. Trump deserved his fact checks as they were hateful and dangerous. (facebook reports, not police reports or town council reports or local newspaper reports) Without one second's worth of thought, reflection, or question, Trump jumped on that planted rumor like a hungry dog on a pork chop and on national TV said immigrants who shouldn't be here were eating our dogs, cats, and pets (and stealing our jobs despite being criminals (who don't work) and mentally insane (who can't). Something doesn't add up. Nothing adds up with Trump. Crime is down all over the world, lowest it's ever been ever in history, ever, ever in history, because the world is sending all their criminals here?) There are good reasons to increase border security. Good reasons. Make them. Don't Trump plunge into racism, de-humanization, and hateful lies and exaggerations that color desperate people evil and make hate easy. I had pot roast in the crockpot by 6:20 this morning after getting up at 6:00. Made possible by having veggies cut up last night, except for the potatoes. Now we'll have breakfast and await the arrival of first the plumber and then the drywaller/tiler... Pretty darn nice of you to fix up a nice pot roast for your plumber and drywaller. Should be interesting dinner date. |

This is number one. But, Anna tells me there will be two more coming down the line. She has paused her teaching career and doesn't plan on picking it up again until number three starts school.
Or so is the plan.
Hubby Josh has taken six weeks off, so it is a cozy little family unit. Anna, Josh, Henry, and, of course, with grandpa and grandma on call 24/7 (Charlene worked remote from the House of Henry most of the week.)
