And a superb job of recording a live performance.

I have to agree with Bruce M, rap is short for Crap. Ever tried to whistle a rap song? Another, repulsive part of the music biz is the use of auto tune. The link below is most likely a fake. Extra credit given for listening to the whole thing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTNquPzvbWY

For me after 5 weeks of playing the guitar, I would say the B7. Because, I just got calluses on my i, m & ring fingers and now I’m feeling the pain of using the pinky in that chord.
According to Kenny Werner in his book "Effortless Mastery". One shouldn't think of music as hard [tough].
"It is good to view things as familiar or unfamiliar, rather than as difficult or easy. If you give yourself the message, 'This is difficult,' the piece may discourage you, and it will still be difficult to play even after you've learned it. However, if you believe that all music is easy, then you'll assume that you are unfamiliar with the piece because ‘it hasn't become easy yet.”

Great topic.
The groove is something that's hard to put in to words but you know it when you hear it. Or I should say when you feel it.
A teacher I had said that the body responds to the rhythm and it was more important to keep the beat than to play the right note. Anyone can tell when the beat is not right but a lot of people won't hear a wrong note.
Once I replaced a drummer who left a group that had a regular gig. Around the 3rd night of playing I noticed that the bass player and I locked into a groove, I know he felt it too because he turned and looked at me at that same moment.

I liked the Malcolm Gladwell book.too. It’s neat how he can take seemingly unrelated studies and bring them together to make a thesis. Another book I would recommend is “The Art of Learning” by Josh Waitzkin. Josh Waitzkin won his first National Chess championship at the age of nine and went on to win 7 more. The book, “Searching for Bobby Fisher” written by his father, was made into a movie when Josh was 17. He published his first book at age 18. Then became involved with the martial arts and holds 21 National and several World Championships in Taiwan Push Hands. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Waitzkin

Where you around during the 70's? I can hardly remember my school daze. Wright State class of 1974. How did you wind up in Baton Rouge?

The .02 bio: My first memories of "live music " was of my dad playing banjo with another guy playing guitar in our house on a Sunday afternoon. I foolishly choose to play the drums. I was in a lot of garage/ basement bands as well as band in school. I played in some groups that had steady gigs. I was even in the local musicians union for a couple of years. I put down the drumsticks four years ago and bought myself a piano. I've been taking private lesson weekly.
The guitar that I using is a Martin D18 that belongs to my mother in law. Its that classic story, where she fell and couldn't get up. Luckily we went to visit her that day and she only laid on the floor with a broken arm for about 1/2 hour. She moved into a nursing home and had to get rid of most of her stuff. That's how I acquired the Martin.
I found the forum when I was looking to find what kind of strings to get and how to put them on a guitar.
I tried 3 times to register as someone other than Phil, but got shot down each time. Then I followed the directions and selected
Someone ask about my location. I live in the suburbs around Wright Patterson Air Force Base. My congressman is Boehner. LOL.

Hi all, I'm the FNG. I started taking a guitar class a few weeks ago from the local community college. Finally getting some callouses so that I can play / practice longer. I know the I - IV - V7 chords in the keys of G, D and A. That was on my midterm. Looking forward to learning a lot more.
