Correct. (Though the outraged Breitbart article probably reached a bigger audience).

(YW David) For Osterholm, who I haven't been following as closely as I once did, I usually wait for the transcripts on the Cidrap site. He certainly is quite comprehensive, thorough and informative in his coverage. The global reports are interesting. The latest broadcast said, if I understood correctly, that one in five US healthcare workers had left their jobs which was a bit surprising to me. The July 8th podcast like others, had some helpings of more personal stuff including how he enjoyed a James Taylor concert and some thoughts on his friendships and relationships. He shared his liking of 'Friends' by Elton John. www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/podcasts-webinars

It wasn't a command. It was a summary of the most widely advocated expert medical opinion.

Carefully moderated and confidential online support groups and safe spaces are also available to victims of domestic assault and battery and coercive control. Maybe they should be damned for existing because violent spouses exist?
(Some sites for such victims also have 'hide' buttons)

When said Chatspace is potentially a rare refuge and lifeline to at risk and isolated teens who, as we know have sometimes very highly elevated occurrences of self-harm and suicide, I disagree.

Like the 'Q Chatspace' The Trevor Project also provide something similar for LGBTQ teens and young adults. www.thetrevorproject.org/visit-trevorspace/Knowledge of and access to such resources can save lives. That might go some way towards explaining the CDC'S publicization of them.

Nitpick. It's not a CDC website that has a hide button. Besides the point obviously.

Familial rejection and abuse, both physical and emotional, sometimes culminating in homelessness and worse are a very real fact of life for some LGBTQ teens. Confidential support systems including online are essential. Not all families are safe for those teens should that confidentiality not be assured. This should be obvious.

The 'about' page. www.qchatspace.org/Learn-MoreThat Breitbart.com and its readers, (the article extract in the OP is from there), are displeased doesn't surprise me.

Good resource. For one thing, likely to alleviate misery, self harm and reduce suicides among vulnerable teens. LGBTQ teens are all too often in home situations where it would be unsafe and have bad consequences for them if their family or community were to learn about their sexuality in a badly handled way.

Terry, if you haven't read it already, you might enjoy 'French Revolutions, Cycling the Tour de France' by Tim Moore. It's a fun read.

The newest Omicron variant that I have read of is BA.2.75 Dr.Jetelina discusses it in last week's update. yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/covid-state-of-affairs-july-7 Her "Bottom Line". (It doesn't take long to read the whole piece though)
"BA.5 is impacting countries across the globe. It’s story in the U.S. is yet to be determined. It’s important to note, though, that we already have a very high, steady level of transmission. In addition, SARS-CoV-2 continues to mutate so quickly that we start talking about the next variant (BA.2.75) before the current wave peaked."
More generally she observes,
"Hospitalizations continue to creep up and, on average, 389 Americans are dying each day. Severe disease will continue to occur. As the Kaiser Family Foundation reported, in some states, 3 in 4 people are not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines (this figure does not include the 4th dose). Also, as we just saw in Portugal, vulnerable groups like the elderly are at risk from high transmission, even if vaccinated. While incredibly tragic, hospitalizations and deaths do remain below any previous peaks, which is progress."
ETA - More about BA.2.75. Evidently it has a "nickname", Centaurus.
