The decision will be made by the polls.
And there will be ten thousand of them done over the next ten days.
I hope I get called: Gretchen Whitmer
( I could so get used to her.)

Well?

Well, if in the final month or so it looks like Trump has a pretty good lead, I hope that in that in that final month Biden sends a shitload of long-range missiles to Ukraine, enough to last a good while. This business that Putin can blast Ukrainian cities with missiles he gets from North Korea and Iran but it is somehow against our rules of war to allow Ukraine to send a couple fat ones back at Moscow is a wrong of the highest order.
Fuck Putin. If he sends another batch of missiles into the heart of Kiev, give Ukraine the means to drop a load on the heart of Moscow. If you want to play, you got to pay.
This war has to end.
Ukraine will never, ever, get the Crimea back. It just ain't happening. That is hard cold reality. So, if something is already gone, give it away in a deal. Russia gets title to Crimea and a slice of some eastern territory that wasn't happy being part of Ukraine anyway. Putin gets enough to tell the home folks he got all he ever wanted in the first place. Then sign up Ukraine in NATO to guarantee its future security. And let that nation start to recover and rebuild.
Or toss NATO and create a new Euro-Pact deal, one that includes Russia this time; a deal that codifies all the current European boundaries and backs the deal with joint military action against any invading army that breaks the deal. True, Russia is the rat in the hen house, but any European security deal that leaves Russia out in the cold as the enemy to be on guard against guarantees that that will continue to be the deal going forward into perpetuity.
Flip the Script. Sign the paranoid bastards into a joint Euro-Pact deal.

Haven't seen it, but it sounds good to me.
Sort of.
When I came out on the other side of my medical adventures last year, I discovered I had lost my taste for beer, especially the more robust types I had previously preferred. Gradually, a taste for light lagers returned, but I have become a one and done with a 12 pack of Bud Lite or some such lasting me a month. And as I am very content with these cheap light beers, I don't see any sense or reason to re-cultivate my taste for beers that cost twice as much with twice the alcohol and calories. If it happens organically [sorry], well, I don't fight Act of God stuff. But it will have to happen without my seeking it (as the very best things do).

Morning!
I'm looking into the feasibility of replacing my lawn with artificial turf. And you can get it in different colors now, which is kind of cool.

First thing I get for a new to me car: Weathertech. You can get factory-fit mats for most cars by year and model. I love them. For snow and slush country, they can't be beat. They probably have a selection of generic fits for car models they no longer have custom fits for. (I understand this won't help your current situation, at this point, only some type of alcohol will. This is posted solely as a possible future help for a general audience)

If you are interested, I can have my guy talk to your guy and get you a buck off the plek job.

Sweetwater seems to ask $299 for the Plek. Seems like a lot. I would love to hear from someone with experience about what you get for that and how that compares to a good setup. I have used Sweetwater as a source for some nice mic orders for the school, plus I have a pretty good relationship with my Sweetwater guy, so I was able to swing a discount on the plek job, got it for $298. My initial impression is it can't possibly have been worth it. Maybe if I played past the 5th fret.

It makes no sense:
Biden's confused dithering gave Trump a path to the White House as wide as a LA Freeway. All he has to do is moderate his mouth and stop saying crazy shit. Instead he keeps playing footsie with white militia types and would-be Nazis. He has the loony fringe in his pocket, all he needs to do now is mumble safe, conservative platitudes and he is in, in, in! What is wrong with him?
And the Democrats, what the hell are they doing? Biden's confused dithering is all over social media. It can't be unseen or undone. It can't be explained away as a bad hair day. And spouting nonsense like "Oh, he is Sharp as a Tack when no one can see him. You should see him then!" isn't going to work with any swing voter, especially young Swing Voters in the Swing States. It all just sounds like desperate lying to any ears that aren't solid Blue.
The D's need to understand that every voter is wondering, "Who and what is Kamala Harris?" All voters realize that a vote for Biden will really be a vote for Kamala Harris... sooner or later.
So, what are the Democrats doing with Harris to assuage these swing voters who have Kamala questions? They have her out on the road doing silly shit like "street talking" with her "street sisters" and selling reproductive rights over and over and over to a group of voters that need absolutely no selling. (That's as dumb as Trump's coy coziness with white nationalists.)
Independent swing voters, the voters that will swing the election, don't want to see Sister Kamala talking Street to her Street Sisters. They want to know if she has any sense. Show off the rest of Kamala. The Kamala that went to top flight schools and became a razor sharp lawyer. Show off the attorney general Kamala who threw asses in jail rather than issuing apologies for the "system" and yammering about restorative justice. Introduce us to Kamala's economically reassuring rich as fuck investment banker husband. Get her out of the silly pandering role you've assigned her. Show her teeth! She is the real candidate, not Biden.
Both campaigns are playing to the folks they already have. They should be reassuring those that they don't.

Morning!
Hell Night is over. Woke up this morning and saw a calm and relaxed dog sleeping at the foot of our bed. All is as it should be once again.

It is Hell Night. And Casper is downstairs in his bomb shelter (well stocked with comic books and dog biscuits). The firework action around here is pretty sparse, but all it takes is one lady finger and a sparkler and he packs it in for the night.

...I was paying attention during these events--not obsessively, but not snoozing, either-- and I see no reason to change my view of them.) AH HAH! Of course not. And you just confirmed the point I hadn't gotten around to making yet, that you viewed these events as they occurred objectively and fairly... and not through a right-skewed ideological prism. So you really have no objective reason to change your original view as it holds up to both time and reflection. (as a courtesy, I thought I would provide the expansion your concluding thought called for, saving John the time and trouble, thoughtful forum citizen I am.)

Most cities, at least the two I am familiar with (ok, so Newfolden is village) control mosquitoes so well, that it is appropriate and responsible to issue a warning when an expected hatch is so large it will overwhelm whatever measure of control the citizenry has come to expect.
(West Nile is nothing to sneeze at. Mosquitoes are the number one top killer of humans.)
(due to all the recent rain, I wouldn't last five evening minutes outside if I were up at the farm. Here in town, I have yet to be bitten (we have lots of bees, dragonflies, and butterflies PLUS mosquito control.)

If Trump is elected, my bet is the odds of the first military coup in this country will rise from 0% to 30%.
One scenario: Trump issues a military order so outlandish (i.e. ordering Federal troops to take action against a state official (NY) that is under the protection of that state's National Guard), that the military leadership refuses to obey him and initiates action to replace him (the meat and bones of the military leadership, not whatever lick-spittle looney he picks to be top dog).
There is a sanity to the power structure of this country that will follow Trump's insanity only so far.

Casper and I did a much more reasonable 1.7 mile walk (I use Google Walks to trace my path once home). Usually, we do evening walks, but not during Fireworks Season. First big bang, he makes a sharp turn for home.

Back from a 3.25 mile walk. Really humid out there. Lunch coming up. Clearly you over did it. Upchucking after a workout is not a good sign.
