Wow, such tone and feel. Her legato passages are so incredibly smooth, and I like the way she gets really aggressive at times. Lovely.

Lol, every poor guitar players dream. Find a beautiful guitar in a dusty case in a closet somewhere.

Take care Todd, get better soon. The Duck Band needs those moves. Hopefully whatever scars there are will still be hidden by the thong.

Middeldottir is leaving for the Pacific Crest Trail today, we’re taking her to the airport to fly to San Diego. She was going to go just when covid hit, had hiked all over New Zealand to prep herself. She’s the last of the three of them still at home. She’ll be back late in the summer. She’s very prepared, very experienced, and still, that parental thing kicks in.
Anyhow, both worried and very proud of her today. We might drive down and meet her at some point, we’ll see how it goes.

If I don’t know the number, I don’t answer. They can go to voicemail. My SIL actually has her voice mail prompt telling people that, and to leave a message if they’re someone who actually needs to contact her.

I was lucky enough to meet both of them as well. Don was such a kind man, and an excellent player. Doug was a character, with strong opinions from which he never wavered. And a heck of a lot of fun. RIP gents.

Check and make sure the ball ends of your strings are secure against the bridge plate as well. Probably okay, but had a problem with one of mine where the ball end was shoved right off, and tubby was a polite way to describe it.

Now, that’s a nice burst. It’s warm. Disagree on the strap, Marshall, the gold suns blend well with the burst for me.

One other thing, for whatever reason, fewer parents are reading to their kids like Russell's mom did. I suspect far fewer. The one thing pretty much every elementary school teacher I’ve ever talked to has confirmed is that how much the parents read, and read to their kids, is the single largest indicator of reading skills in children.

My latest, based on a new novella, Mischief Made, about my Trickster god. Wasn't sure about this one, the chord progression was nothing special. But I was really happy with how the bass went down, and then pleased with the lead guitar work, and as it usually happens, the whole felt better in the end. Me on guitars, bass, lead and background vocal. My buddy Tony on bg vocal. Drums by Logic Drummer.
I always could play some lead, but the last six years of my acoustic jam, and working at it, have been a step up. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks?

I found him through admirer Will McNicol, who has a few gigs coming up with him. He's got a nice new Fylde Alexander(?). I posted his lovely version of Lakes of Pontchartrain on it before but don't think I posted this one. On the matter of being able to count the rhythm, Sonke writes in his YT notes that he only noticed when writing the tune down that the B part is in 15/16. Lovely. I love the breadth of what he does, from sweet like this, to what I posted. I also love the simple joy he always has when he plays, not over the top, I-need-to-look-like-I’m-enraptured. As to the timing, I’ve done that more than a few times. I think I’m writing something straight, and then I count it out, and it’s … how did I end up here?

I don’t always like such ‘angular’ compositions myself. But when one hits me right, it’s some of my favourite instrumental music.

The song from my new book, Night God. This one is a bit more prog, which is where I came from musically, when I was playing in bands. It came from a couple of riffs I'd mucked with for years. I like how it turned out, the solos were fun. Some synth as well. Me on lead vocals, bg vocals, guitar and synth, my buddy Tony on bg vocals, and my buddy Terry on fiddle.

I’m pretty sure the Cargo will be the guitar I’m left with at the end. Damage proof, nice size, perfect couch guitar. Travels, as David said, very well.
