Remember this book? I do, and I think that what Toffler postulates in the book is a large part of the craziness that's going on right now. Wiki article on Future ShockWhat do you think?

I was on leave in London at the time they were there on tour when they taped this performance at "The Old Grey Whistle Stop". I wasn't at that show, but I did catch them at the Hammersmith Odeon. Great stuff.

Good morning. Supposed to rain today but the radar says maybe not. We'll see. No crane colts yet so the watch continues. I'll be working on an arrangement of Donovan's "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" today. "Lord kiss me once more, fill me with song........."
Have a great day.

Military retirement medical coverage has proven to be a bigger benefit than the paycheck. I've got Medicare A & B and Tricare for Life. And, while the VA was terrible when I retired, they've improved thanks to John McCain, and I've been very impressed with the treatment I've gotten in getting hearing aids.

Good morning. Looks like a nice weather day here. I went out this morning to see if the crane colts have hatched, still no joy. However, I did observe this face off between a great blue heron and a little blue heron. I'm going to play at the Crystal River Library song circle this afternoon. Should be a good time. Have a great day everyone.

On the way out to the gulf there are tidal marshes and ponds. A pair of cranes have nested for a number of years on an island in a pond that's about 15 yards or so from the shore by the road. I've been going out there periodically to check on this years hatching but so far no colts, (crane babies are called colts, not chicks). Here's some pictures I took while checking in on them, The happy couple. Some red-breasted merganser's Little blue heron Belted kingfisher Snowy egret. At this point I'm checking in every day so I'll post pictures when the colt or colts arrive......

Good morning. Rain overnight, clearing up this morning and we're heading into a what looks like a very nice weather weekend.
Yesterday I was taking some pictures with my new camera and I hit a button somewhere that put it into a weird mode so that I can't view the picture thru the viewfinder. There are a lot of features on this camera and I am just barely at the beginning of the learning curve. I'll be digging into the manual to try and figure it out. Technology, great when it works, otherwise very frustrating......
Outside of that I've got the Audubon monthly meeting tonight and a bike ride this afternoon. Have a great day.

Good morning. Cloudy this morning, supposed to rain later today and this evening. I've got an appointment with the heart doctor. Regular checkup, so I'll probably survive. Life goes on so we might as well enjoy ourselves. Have a great day.

Good morning. Sunny morning here, going to be a nice weather day. Hope all who are ill or recovering progress well today. Yesterday I changed the strings on all my acoustic guitars, except for the 12 string. That will have to wait for another day. Meanwhile, it's like I've got a bunch of new guitars. One thing I noticed. When tuning them all up after stretching out the strings I noticed they seemed to go right to the standard tuning even before I verified on the tuner. Do guitars develop "muscle memory" for the tunings we most often put them in? I no longer mess around with alternate tunings so all my guitars remain in standard. Just a thought while waking up in the morning. Have a great day. The guitars don't develop a memory but you do. Any guitar I string up is usually within a step of near in tune, no magic, just repetitive motion. You are probably more adapt at it than I because you are always doing the same guitars. Don't "stretch out" the strings by tugging on them. Tune them and then let the guitar rest for a while before retuning. The way I install strings the ball ends are always seated properly and I let the guitar rest, *if possible, so the string windings can settle naturally not forcibly by tugging on them. *I will change to another project if I have time so the strings can settle. But not if a client is waiting. When I restring I tune initially tune them a bit high and give them a few hours to stretch before I go to standard so I guess I've been unknowingly doing the correct thing. Good to know.
