Quoting Pollyanna: “You see, when you’re hunting for the glad things, you sort of forget the other kind.” Quoting Cody Jinks: "Not every light at the end of the tunnel is a train".

www.judicialwatch.org/press-releases/hunter-biden-flights/It's a lot of trips on our dime. But... to be fair, Joe said he has never spoken to Hunter about his business dealings even though he took 400 something foreign trips with SS protection. I guess I should get with the program and take him at his word like most here. So the millions of dollars given to HB by Russians and Ukrainians is nothing to be concerned about. I'm glad the press cleared that up for me. I was beginning to think the Bidens were corrupt and the press was giving them a pass.

And in the meantime just a couple of stories the leftist Democratic mouthpieces are allowed to ignore are the details about Hunter Biden and the slow but steady revelations about Obama's direct involvement in Crossfire Razor. I fuckin despise the main stream press.

Peter, where did that quote at the bottom of your post come from? Who dat? From what I hear, some random guy on Twitter (I don't do Twitter so I don't know who). Still, I guess ordinary schlubs can still be profound. Gonna steal it.

Listening to the news and reading the headlines that come to me via Google News when I open my browser, I am in absolute awe of the press. Really. So much power. One stupid, dumbass cop in Mini-sota and wah-la! All cops are racist and there MUST BE massive reform if not disbanding. All white people are racist. America itself is racist; Capitalism is racist. Riots are justified. Burning and looting are acceptable and justified.
Again this is just me and I'm an old, fat white guy from Mississippi: none of the lefts other gambits to rid the country of Trump has worked so it's time for a scorched earth campaign. Release the hounds! Stoke the fires of racial injustice! What does it matter that a careful analysis of statistics shows that cops don't shoot blacks proportionally more than whites? Better the cities of America burn than he be allowed four more years!
I really think they have hit on a winning strategy. WTG guys! Pour some more gasoline on those fires! Make the death of every black man at the hands of police a result of "institutional racism" and blame Trump. Doesn't matter if a year from now the forensics prove the narrative wrong as in the Michael Brown case. "Hands up, don't shoot"! is now firmly fixed in the national psyche.
Now all they need to do is keep Biden out of the spotlight and puff up the lefty woman who will soon be President, and- yay!- Utopia comes!
All hail the New York Times and Washington Post! Kingmakers!
I hope all of you that live in cities enjoy the brave new world they are shaping for you (with your help of course). I live in the boondocks and haven't needed the police for 67 years. Good luck and I mean that sincerely.
I think I need a break from here.... Maybe I'll go see what Ducktrapper and other deplorables are up to....

From a corner of one universe, on just a bit of this stuff, the Russian hacking, here's a link. www.factcheck.org/2019/10/flurry-of-trump-falsehoods/The part where it says "The DNC Server Conspiracy Theory" has many links to official documents and intelligence agency reports and so on. I don't want to try to unpack and categorize all the crazy things he says and then have to break down all the ways various groups spin those statements. Staying focused on one small issue here: That the Russian "hacked" our elections for the benefit of Trump. It is my recollection that we were told that because Russian hackers stole DNC emails and that Russian troll farms massively influenced the American electorate thru social media. That is what filtered down to me here in South Mississippi. If that is somewhat correct, then what I am saying is that I have heard and read that all is not as we were told. That's it. I don't care to go any further right now... gotta run.

Trump either "colluded" with the Russians or he didn't. For two years almost 100% of the press- save Fox- said he did. Now we know for a certainty- based on finally released documents and real journalism from both the left and the right, that it was all horse shit from the start including the part that the Russians hacked the DNC. Rhetoric, logic, linguistics, science, and literature didn't come in to play on that saga. Seems to me animus, prevarication, bias, laziness, group think, and tribalism would be more relevant. That's not really an accurate summary. I don't have the time or inclination to write the books or make the film/documentary series to expand on that opinion. Other more willing and capable parties will do so at some point. OK, I'm willing to acknowledge that we might live in parallel universes and there were different stories blaring out of the 24 hour news cycles. In my universe it was collusion, collusion, collusion, agent of Russia, Putin's Patsy, traitor, on and on and on for almost three years. Then we found out that almost 100% of what we had heard was false. The case against the troll farms was pathetic and laughed out of court and that there wasn't even any hard evidence that the Russians hacked the DNC emails. But that was what was happening in my world. Might have been a total different story in yours and my friend John's. I will agree, though, that I also don't have the time or inclination to delve into it and will bid all a good night.

"For two years almost 100% of the press- save Fox- said he did." I believe you're mistaken. My take, from "the media," was that Russia interfered, Trump benefited, but collusion wasn't proven. I don't think I am. But if you are interested in a more informed take, check out Matt Taibi or Aaron Mate. To be entertained as well as informed try Jimmy Dore. They are not right wingers by any stretch of the imagination.

It has never been easy to get the facts--or, to be precise, to sort through gossip, anecdotage, Nth-hand reports, ex-parte or partial accounts, misunderstandings, and the rest--to assemble something that approaches the truth. And not to get all post-modern, there are non-trivial questions about what constitutes a fact and what the effect of limits and biases and unexamined assumptions that are part of one's personal data-gathering machinery might be. That's why every discipline I've ever encountered has developed tests and checks and data-processing protocols. And why the liberal education that I received included big doses of rhetoric and logic and linguistics along with the history and science and literature: to allow me to navigate what people do with the data they gather and feed into arguments, and what they do with language along the way. I don't like "the truth is out there," which suggests that there's a nice solid block of truth-stuff waiting for us to encounter. Instead, the world is out there--phenomena--all messy and mixed and pointing in various directions. The challenge is to unpick the tangle of threads, figure out what questions I'm asking, and to keep an eye on myself, because I'm one of the threads. And to remember that there's generally not just one answer, because there are multiple questions tangled up with the one I think I'm asking. I'm afraid I don't quite agree. Trump either "colluded" with the Russians or he didn't. For two years almost 100% of the press- save Fox- said he did. Now we know for a certainty- based on finally released documents and real journalism from both the left and the right, that it was all horse shit from the start including the part that the Russians hacked the DNC. I didn't know who they were and didn't watch. I will be sure to drop back and catch it.
I think the main cause of our divide in this country is the dearth of reliable facts. You read this outlet's report on Seattle and everyone is happy and singing kum-by-yah. Another is reporting extortion, checkpoints, stop-and-frisk interrogations, etc.
How are we supposed to know what to think if there are no reliable facts?

Congruent with what you have posted above, a while back Matt Taibi was on Joe Rogan's podcast and the state of the media was one of the main topics. Matt laid out in great detail how the business model has changed over the last few years. The one soundbite that stuck with me is that he said in order to survive it has largely devolved into little more than "clickbait".

For the record I have tremendous respect for Matt Taibi, Adam Mate, and others. Despite being unabashed Bernie type progressives, I think they write the “truth” as they see it without regard to friend or favor. You can compare what they write about “Crossfire Hurricane” to John Solomon or Sarah Carter’s reporting and find very little deviation despite the chasm between their political beliefs.

I hope he doesn't send in the guard. They wanted it; they got it.
As a small business owner I do feel for the businesses and property owners trapped inside the 6 block area who have poured their life into carving out a piece of the American Dream just to have it stolen from them by a bunch of leftist thugs and feckless politicians.
