I don't know that I have ever seen anybody down here in the deep south put BC dressing on wings. It is solid Ranch country.

OK, white male mysoginisfs. How can we identifyi them for help with their pathologies? And to make sure they don’t have easy access to guns.

OK, it’s white males. Now what do you suggest to make schools safer?

Yeah. I have to agree with you on the most part. I'm pretty sure the parents of these kids have had their lives ruined. But still. Every car owner has to have insurance. When my phone was stolen, I was liable for the calls on it. And, though most parents I know would be devastated to have their kid be involved with this, I'm not sure every one would. And to your point about civil action; it's much easier to pursue a civil action if a crime has officially been committed. Making unsafe and negligent storage of a firearm a crime will make the pursuit of civil damages easier. It sends a message. Does it solve the problem? Not in every case, I'm sure. But it puts a prospective gun owner on notice. There are consequences for negligence. As it should. I'm not advocating otherwise. I'm just wondering if adding a statutory violation to these parents is going to really do anything. What is one more shovelful of shit when your are living in a world of it? I'm not against restricting high capacity magazines or bump stocks or making it harder to get an "assault rifle" either. It just won't do one damn bit of good as far as protecting schools. Only a full scale, nation wide confiscation of firearms would even slow this trend down but I don't recommend it for the reasons I stated before. There are individuals who would see that as an attempt to subjugate them and would resist with great vigor. It's not so simple as just labeling them "bat shit crazy". They have their POV and although I don't share a lot of their opinions, they are not crazy - or violent- as long as they are left alone. Don't go poking that bear is my recommendation. If you go that route, don't forget to confiscate all the 3D printers also. Oh and you better build that wall as well. Better put one between us and Canada while you are at it or the smugglers will use that route also. I just don't see that half assed, band-aid attempts at "gun control" (whatever the %$%^%^ that is) will help. I thought of some other ideas to use on the kids but then I remembered how the more "they" warned us about pre-marital sex and the dangers of drugs just fueled our curiosity and determination to find out for ourselves. Looks like a long road....damn

Oh, there's definitely something like that going on. Amougst kid culture there's consistent story line. This is the evil side of the whole adolescent high school drama scene. It's a well known fact that kid's moral judgement is not fully developed in high school age. They can't see the bigger picture of their place in life and the world. It's all still a game. And a gun, the higher power the more dramatic, is the magic ingredient in the evil side of the drama. And every freaking gun owning parent of a adolescent kid has a responsibility to society to remove the easy access of guns from their kids, or pay a heavy legal price to society if they don't. I don't disagree with you. Remembering how incredibly stupid I was as a boy, I didn't have a handgun in my house till my son moved out. I would, however, question whether it is necessary to pass new laws to use against the owners of guns that are used to kill without their knowledge or consent. I would be shocked if the parents of the last two shooters don't get their asses sued off. I think they are in a world of shit: the one that gave the firearms back that the police confiscated and the latest where he took his dad's shotgun to school. What will a new law do that a hard ass atty working for the victim's families won't? I'm asking- not pontificating. What am I missing? Is there a way to determine the effect their children's rampage has had upon the parents? Am I wrong? Have they been left alone? Like I said; I would be shocked. Do you see any way in hell they don't live under a cloud of lawsuits for the rest of their lives?

"I have a family member who recently promised that if the gun confiscators come to his door he will open fire. I pressed him on it and he assured me that he is not going to live in "that kind of a country". " You have a family member who is apparently batshit crazy and should not own weapons. Mike He is not crazy. He is highly opinionated much like yourself. It is my opinion that he and his second amendment rights should be left alone.

Alan's post reminded me of the world in the film Minority Report, in which "pre-cogs" can predict murders that have not yet taken place...
It does. Talk about a slippery slope if we went that way! Like I said. Somebody's rights are going to get trampled. Probably everyone's before it's over.

That particular horror doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. Is it just me or did that wedding totally eclipse the latest inexplicable massacre?
I think even the most fervent anti-assault rifle proponent has to take pause at this latest unhinged kid with his dad's shotgun and revolver. What law could prevent that? IMHO there is just no possible way to address this problem from the gun side in any way other than a useless, symbolic gesture that does absolutely nothing to stop these types of killings.
I have a family member who recently promised that if the gun confiscators come to his door he will open fire. I pressed him on it and he assured me that he is not going to live in "that kind of a country". I don't think he is alone. I would recommend that the solution needs to leave guys like him alone and look for a something that will do some good instead of doubling down on needless bloodshed and carnage.
Which brings me to my idea which I'm sure is going to get ripped but, hey, just don't make it personal and I can live with it.
It would appear to me that something has gotten into the kids. There are too many of them that are nuckin futz. There was a rash of bomb scares recently and several numb nuts from my old school phoned in a report and got arrested. How stupid/crazy/inexplicable is that?? They KNOW they can trace the phones but they do it anyway. The kid in Texas had to realize that his life as he knew it was over but he did it anyway. WTF???
OK, I don't understand it and probably nobody does entirely but let's look at it another way. Can we identify these "quiet loners" who one day bring a gun to school to kill everyone he doesn't like? To "fix" this problem someone is going to get their rights severely violated. Why not let it be the ones who are the most likely to bring a gun to school and leave the ones like my family member alone?
Surely someone in the FBI or other LE organization has compiled a pretty good profile of these kids. Make it a requirement for high school. You want to attend this HS? You must submit to this evaluation. Have the best and brightest make a series of questions and hook them up to a polygraph or other sensors that identify truth or evasion. I bet we have the technology to passively monitor the tell-tale body reactions without having to physically attach wires or sensors to them. Have them program the smartest damn AI in the world "talk" to these kids and see if they can't nip some of these massacres in the bud. If they could identify some of the POTENTIAL shooters and get him some help before he goes over the edge wouldn't that be a win-win for everyone?
I read that Autodesk- who makes my tormentor, AutoCAD, now has an AI Help that reads your facial expressions and interacts with you emotionally as well as technically. I bet that if they made it a priority, that a system could be constructed that would "interview" each and every kid in America when they were ready for HS.
We have to try something. Let's try something that might work instead of meaningless gestures meant to pacify whoever has the loudest voice or biggest bully pulpit.
Is it Orwellian? Fuckin-A it is. Or we could just learn to live with it.

We are back in Miss for a few days. We need repairs to la casa movible. A side window just shattered into a million pieces for some reason and we have two holes in the roof (already). Those rubber roofs don't like tree limbs for some reason and Mississippi has an abundance of tree limbs seemingly everywhere we want to go.
We are going back to Orlando in a few days to witness (hopefully) Baby Dottir graduate from Jet Blue Academy. Hopefully because she said that 10 people out of the class ahead of her washed out on the last day. What a heartbreak that must have been. She has been doing great though. She reports that out of her battery of tests her lowest grade has been a 93.
We will be closing out our apartment in the Big O. We are hoping that my son and his girl friend will rent a house when her lease is up in a few months and we will rent a room from them for when we visit. They are currently in our apartment as we are rarely there anymore. Funny how things have changed. It used to be that parents frowned upon their children cohabiting without the benefit of holy matrimony but we are subsidizing it. It just doesn't seem to matter to anyone anymore. It doesn't to us. We have bigger fish to fry and that has slid so far down the "give a shit" scale as to be invisible.
Be good.

The Atopia Chronicles come to life.
Actually if they could get away with the "separate sovereign" nation thingy they might attract the moneyed and those with intellectual property to leverage, it might actually work for a while. At least till they piss off someone with a Navy. Or someone with a Navy decides to "annex" them.

Very cool story. At my one and only bucket list skydive there was a 90 year old former fighter pilot who sneaked out of the house to go skydive. He lived with his son and they wouldn't take him or allow him so he slipped his leash and went skydiving anyway. He was still lean and mean. I bet he was something in his prime.

Up and awake. Today is gig day for Run for Cover. We're playing a private party, and this is our first chance to shake out the two sets we have in front of real, live human beings. We expect a full report: set list, number of panties thrown at your feet, etc

It's almost daylight. Time to rise and shine. There are weather reports to give, aching joints to report, politics to argue, music to share. Better get crackin...
I'm checking in from Flint Creek Waterpark in Wiggins, MS but tonight our home will be back at Paul B. Johnson Waterpark where I will stays while faithful wife flies to Orlando for a dr. visit and several other tasks.
Be good

Also can't sleep. Now 4:45 AM but I have a cup of very strong dark roast at hand. We have to roust the 5th wheel out to get a window replaced and since we were already going to be on the road we made reservations at a state park for a few days. I will still be working most of the day but at least I will have some better scenery and some roads to walk where I won't be run down like an O'possum or a 'dillo.

I wish I knew the one legged guy's story. You see him several times. I wonder if he was a Civil War or Spanish American War vet. Or maybe he just had an unfortunate accident. And the suits.... EVERYBODY wore a suit. Just think of the stares I would get if I sauntered by in my cut-offs and flip flops.

37th Wedding Anniversary today. I have a small fillet in the fridge for grilling later. 37 years shot past me somehow. She is still training me- guess that job will last a lifetime.
