Love that Steve Earle album.
The old new ES 135 plays and sounds really good. Kinda thumpy and dry sounding with a little less sustain. Tons of useable range in the volume pots from acoustic-y to ripping blues. Nice guitar.
Hike later. Still warm here.

Steve, I have thought about buying a horse. Always loved to ride, but my family hasn't owned any for 45 years. What do you project the annual cost is for two horses with hay, grain, teeth floating, shoeing, and other associated vet and maintenance bills? Where exactly did you think the term “Shit Ton” originated? In my case I have two so Shit Ton Squared.

Well of course you don’t need a TV. You have horses. Mike Eats money. Poops work. Lives 30 years.

I have an older big plasma TV purchased in like 2006 or so. I think it's a Panasonic and is high 50's or 60" screen. At the time it was spendy and "top shelf". Been probably the best TV I've ever owned and the picture quality is still excellent to me and the TV works great. Much mellower picture than the current super hyped LCD flat screens. It sits front and center in the living room and pretty much occupies a wall.
I've been thinking about the day it finally craps out and what would I do. I still pay DISH monthly but my TV watching is waaaaayyyy down these days. Like maybe a DVR'd movie a week, CBS Sunday Morning a few times a month, Superbowl and few NFL play off games, election night coverage or the occasional breaking story.
When the TV croaks I'm not 100% sure I'll replace it. Anybody else TV free?

Morning. Watched my first two football games of the year this weekend. Meh. I don't mean the games or the outcomes. Just my waning interest. Warm and melt here after not much of a winter. I'm at the point of hoping for a late winter dump or a very wet/cold spring or we are going to burn this year. Almost forgot. I picked up a player grade 2001 Gibson ES-135 that has been upgraded with Lollar P-90s. After market knobs. Lotsa little dings and dents and weather checking. Somebodies gigging guitar. Should be here today. Marshall would approve

Darby Montana is pretty much a WASP wet dream. There is a pretty strong liberal hippy thing happening here in the Bitterroot though so it doesn't feel like "us and them" while living here to me. Just not something I think much about.

If you could talk them into a "six months same as cash" deal you'd only need to come up with $75,000 per month. Surely all of us have that much slack in our monthly budget. After all we (most of us) just got a bump in Social Security. I'd get them to throw in free shipping....

Pretty cool huh? I'm glad they did the big write up, recordings, and color spread. That web link is probably about as close as I'm gonna get

Jamie Kinscherff whose shop some of us visited in Texas has been doing that exact bracing with holes for years.
On edit mayBe HAD been doing. Surprised to see his website is defunct. Man that guy was a world class builder.

I've owned or played most of them, but I haven't gassed for an acoustic amp since picking up both a Henriksen Bud 10 and a smaller 6 a few years back. The Bud 6 may well be pound for pound one of the best amps going. It's about the size of toaster and fills the room.
After hearing Taylors ES pick up system in a few guitars now I'll reserve judgement on their amp until I hear it.

Morning. We’ve got some rain and refreeze going on so driving is iffy.
Turned the corner on this crud and feeling human again. Gonna make a pot of chicken barley soup tonight just to be sure.

The election is serious business, and it's being treated like a UN popularity contest.

Even the actual Presidential elections tend not to draw a huge percentage participating. What?! I thought Biden had a 147% turnout among registered Dem voters last time?
